Lore to 60

Playing classic no rush to 60 going to try to 100% quest in the zones I level in. Which path of zones would you take to 60 for lore story quest purposes? Im Alliance

Well, I think you should take any quest addons off and just read the text. The NPCs will give you breadcrumbs to the next zone. Just follow their lead.

Don’t skip Duskwood.

Well. I think this is highly race dependent.

Teldrassil > Darkshore > Ashenvale is super lore-y if you are a night elf

Dun Morogh > Loch Modan a bit less as gnome/dwarf. Although the gnome refugee story is fun to role play and dig into.

The human path is particularly good imo with a clear narrative of elwynn to westfall/redridge back to westfall an don to duskwood and down to stv.

Don’t skip STV and don’t skip major dungeon quest lines, those particularly advance the story.

But I think there are at least three, maybe four major paths that you can take in the game and each has it’s own magic. The replay-ability of this game is fantastic. You could totally pick a theme based on your char’s race and go with it.

Although it is not the best zone for abundant Alliance quests, Desolace has some bonus lore points IMO. I did it in this horde toon and my paladin alt.

Darkshore to Ashenvale has so much lore you could spend several dozen weekends there and not be starved on lore.

Blizzard did an epic job for the Night Elf, Human, and Forsaken story lines.

Really depends on your race and class but I will say gnomish / dwarves lore was good in vanilla .

Ashenvale’s Scythe Of Elune tie into Duskwood was fantastic. The missing diplomat covers the story of what happened to Varian. Once you get into searing gorge / BRD the tie in for the tale of the 3 dwarven clans. Unfortunately Gnomes are kinda just there for the most part, but yea there are alot of nice little quest here and there with some solid writing.

I especially enjoyed the Duskwood lore, especially the Mor’Ladim questline. And then of course later on getting into Plaguelands.

Like others have already mentioned eastern kingdoms have some very good zones for alliance side. I always do duskwood and stv as those are some of my favs. One addon I would strongly recommend if you want to sit down, do the quests and read and enjoy their lore, get Immersion. It just changes the presentation of the quest text to a more rpg style and makes it more immersive. https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/immersion

Get Questie. It will show you which zones have the most quest for you at your level. Plus, Classic/Vanilla was poorly designed when it comes to quest flowing.

Some randomly stop at a dead end after a long enduring chain. Some quest text gives no indication on where/how to complete a quest. Its why we saw huge changes to quest zones in TBC and eventually WotLK.

Stitches is a rite of passage.

It’s been SO long for me, but I remember Teldrassil --> Darkshore --> Ashenvale, etc. (Night Elf) as really cool and immersive.

Plus PvP happens, once you hit Ashenvale, so, bonus.
