[LORE, THEME] We need new writers ASAP

I’m an Alliande RPer, especially back from Wrath-WoD before I quit. The manabomb was just fuel to our PvP campaign fire.

Well, just right there off the top of my head, 2 legendary characters, 1 legendary artifact had their lore destroyed all to build up a end game boss that still turned out lack luster.

But as far as the faction interaction, the Nigh Elf’s lost their homeland. That’s more than anyone has done since the Cataclysm. Undercity is gassed, the entire Alliance fleet is sunk… a LOT happened actually, imho.

Teldrassil was planted after the events of Warcraft 3 and the night elves took Ashenvale (and most of Kalimdor) back to the same status Cataclysm in a book.

Because that’s how the faction war gets written and why I’m cynical that this time, it will absolutely be good for sure.

It doesn’t need this at all. We need a clear Alliance victory/dominance. We need to then have the Alliance treat the Horde as inferior which eventually over the course of x expansions can cause enough turmoil for the peace to implode. This could even set up entirely new factions. We don’t need any more cosmic entities. We need something to return us to normal levels.

we are doomed for the next 3 exps…
everything will be based on weak males, main villain with secret plans, cosmic stuff.

Horde are sorta good at using a stick.

That is all they are good at ya’ll you heard it here in this thread. Because ya know, being good at using a stick is how you open up a portal to another planet to invade it. By being good at using a stick.

Neither is more or less boring than the other, depending on:

  1. how well-written there are, and

  2. accounting for varying tastes on what one finds interesting.

I do mostly agree with you overall.

The best way to measure subjectivity is by calculating through quantity.

If there is good writing in both situations, the one I described will be more captivating for a greater number of players.

Like I said, I’d bet big that an expansion opening cinematic about a blademaster facing off against a mountain king would be at least 10 times more captivating than any content related to the 3 announced exps.

this 100% this, bad writing is a never ending spree of cosmic entities each having to be more powerful and bigger and badder then the previous because without this ramp up it doesn’t make sense. Why would we be afraid of some Sha when we already defeated a literal destroyer of worlds in Deathwing. A literal aspect, and whats more what threat could possibly be worse then Sargeras? This constant ramping up, or threat bloat is unsustainable. Faction conflict however can have a normalizing affect as at any given time anything can happen to even the odds, New magics uncovered, new technologies discovered, new minerals found. A type of bloat still but far more sustainable then an ever expanding list of ever increasingly magnitudes of strengths. Because we don’t need to be literal gods to kill each other.

I guess that it’s shorter than “I’m proud of my fellow sovereign with whom I am a friend but not a subject to” was too long and clunky a sentence. That or the writers either forgot Jainia is not from Stormwind, nor is Varian King of All Humans.

Fourth step, abandon any delusion that WoW’s faction/political storylines have ever been good, realistic, or complex and WoW’s world has ever been anything more than cartoony goofy high fantasy.

Fifth step, figure out that whatever ‘fixing’ lore means is incredibly subjective at the behest of your own narrative and aesthetic biases.

Yeah,

Wow is too old to have anymore faction wars.

Faction war officially ended in Legion. BFA the war felt forced and ridiculous.

There is other wars to fight and win.

But if what metzen said at Blizzcon is any indication. Midnight we may just lose the war

WoW lore is officially dead then.

Generic villain with secret plans number 47.

The only weak males I see in Warcraft are neatly gathered here on these god forsaken forums.

You want to fit the societal role? Get off these forums, cancel your sub, start working overtime, work toward building hobbies that are constructive rather than recreational.

Or, alternatively, admit this is a stupid thing to say, and live your life how you want to.

I can clearly see that you are uncomfortable with the topic

I already have a beautiful wife, 42 biceps and a good job, you can rest assured about me, the problem isn’t me.

On the contrary, I’m quite comfortable talking about it.

Since when is the circumference of your bicep the mark of a ‘strong male’? You’re a provider. Provide. Why do you even have time to work out, are you rich?

So just keep remaking the same story and don’t expand .

Kind of like “Hey lets make this movie over and over again people will like it because they only want the familiar. No sense giving people new ideas because everything must be in a neat box”

How long can the franchise last if it never goes beyond WC1-WC3?

I don’t personally care for a full world overhaul and think it’ll be a waste of resources to adjust levelling/starting any further, but I always thought that the Night Elves had an obvious way to be present in the plot in helping the world heal. When they added Night Elf refugees to Stormwind I always thought they were going to go to Westfall, fix the eternal tornado and devastation there.

I don’t expect them to go as far as to unflood Thousand Needles but there’s a lot of aesthetically simple things that don’t require a full world revamp such as repairing the flaming lava eruptions and scorch marks left on the world. Instead, Stormwind cleaned up it’s front yard and Orgrimmar completed it’s renovation and life outside generally remained the same.

Both characters act the way they did in direct response to the Horde, much how Jaina acted after Garrosh bombed Theramore.

But this genuinely aint worth my time given this response I was given so have fun ig

I bet it’s a lie, because someone who is comfortable doesn’t suggest that their debate opponent leave the forum or insult him before presenting the argument

your insecurity on the topic is crystal clear

Do you feel insulted by my proclamations?

It wasn’t meant to be an insult, this is the gender role you’re putting up on a pedestal. You provide. Your worth is in what you can provide, and your goal is to be worth as much as you can manage.

I’m quite secure, when it comes to this topic. I had a good father that made it clear to me that being happy was the best thing anyone could do for themselves.
