Which fits the race’s themes better? I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks, Community!
Subtlety probably other than the weird shadow magic bits. They’re survivors and small so probably quite good at the sneaking.
Any of the three rogue specs work pretty well. I would argue Outlaw the best since it’s what we see in Freehold, but since that’s not in the conversation I suppose I can make an argument for assassination. Assassination would probably be the most useful in the fight against the Sethrak.
Neither, Outlaw feels more like a good Vulpera spec! Maybe it’s just from seeing more Vulpera as pirate NPCs than any kind of stealth class (and I’m also probably a bit biased here as I am a Vulpera Outlaw Rogue wearing a pirate costume). Captain Eudora comes to mind. Rogue with ranged abilities and relies on 1v1 combat more than stealth or subterfuge.
Either. That was my initial response.
Subtlety because it emphasizes the idea of moving through the shadows of the shifting sands, drawing power from the blackness of the moonless desert night, to jumpy-hoppy your target before disappearing into the sands.
Assassination because it capitalizes on your knowledge of the dangerous flora and fauna of the burning desert…knowing how to stalk your prey, mark them…emerge during a sandstorm, a quick stab, a quick slice, then disappearing into the shadows as the poisons work…as the blood loss kicks in.
So, either work, lore wise. You do you.
Outlaw: Possible because you’re a fox on a boat, man, you’re riding fast man, you’ve got a nautical theme–
You get the idea. Just leave those mermaids alone.
Lore for Vulpera: nil.
Do what you want, because unless you’re playing a screeching warrior who wants “death to all Sethrak! (except the ones helping us, of course)” or a medicine man who might have shamanistic capabilities, you’re playing a class outside what we’ve seen with Vulpera.
Edit: I forgot about the vulpera pirates. There you go-- be an Outlaw.
I’d say it’s pretty limiting to go by just what we see explicitly in game when we can affirm and extrapolate class roles based on their culture.
For example, I could make a good case for Assas Rogue because Vulpera are extremely knowledgable and resourceful regarding Vol’dun and its resources. I can easily see them utilizing wasp and Snake venom to create potent poisons.
Outlaw obviously.
Be like Nisha and become the fury of the Vulpera.
Nisha seems like a Warrior to me. Mostly because you can select various weapons for her that are beyond Rogues.
But more on topic, I think any Rogue spec fits.
They managed it with every other Allied Race (except Void Elves, of course, because they sprung up out of nowhere). It wouldn’t have been that hard to stick a quest NPC here or there to show them dabbling in playable classes to hint at what they’d be able to be in the future. Their justification for limiting class/race combinations is that something might be possible but it’s just not prevalent enough in that race to justify as being playable.
i.e. Orc paladins probably exist among the Argent Dawn but they’re not playable because they’re so few in number and also didn’t bring that back with them to the Horde. Then we have vulpera, who just get a fistful of classes because, “Eh, why not?”
