Loot rules

The raid loot system is trash and should go back to personal loot. It promotes toxicity when anyone can roll on things then turn around and sell to the highest bidder.

This is conflating the loot system with human greed. I don’t think it would change much. Since people will still be able to trade gold after a change to “Personal Loot.” People will still win gear and turn around to sell it to the highest bidder.

Not like PL does anything to stop this (if anything, it makes it easier).

The real culprit here is cross realm gold trading.

Going to need to accessibly disagree here. Fix the root cause of the issue, the system isn’t bad, but anything can be improved.

Why cant you do that with personal loot tho ?

Consider how much gold you have to be a “bonus roll” in that matter

Also, they can still win that item over you with personal loot. And then turn around and sell it too

GL: roll for item, win item, try to sell it in raid chat.

PL: win item, try to sell it in raid chat.

. . .

Uh, what’s solved by going back to PL, exactly?

They should get rid of loot and got to a currency system.

So it’s better if you don’t get a chance to roll, they get the item and then… Turn around and sell it to the highest bidder?

At least with need/greed you have a chance to get it for free.

I think what you’re really upset about is that you can trade gold cross server and faction now. Before people would have to give loot away for free so there was no incentive to roll on things you didn’t need.

But now instead of giving stuff away for free to random strangers you’ll never see again, they have a chance to make a buck.

It’s not much different than PL. Maybe learn the loot rules first before you trash them?

I saw more toxicity with PL than with GL, due to all of the harassment whispers demanding someone’s loot.

That’s not an issue with GL, that’s an issue with Blizzard allowing people to trade gold cross server.

well with personal loot you always had a chance to get it, however whats great about going back to the need/greed system is that you can at least see whose winning what and what the RNG rolled. I at least like SEEING what im losing to.

The only thing I ever got with Personal Loot was rings or trinkets. I’ll stick with Group Loot thanks.

In a way, they did… GDKP.

The highest bidder wins.

In the future, it will be 3 buttons:

Need

Greed

Add 100 to your roll with $10 Bnet balance

Whenever I see someone trying to auction off something they need rolled, they get kicked from the raid.

Problem with GL: Promotes need rolling over anything because transmog rolls in pugs almost never happen. Also creates the “need and ransom” rolls.
Problem with PL: The predetermined “upgrade” metric made it impossible to trade away an item you recieved but didn’t want or need. Creates the constant “Do you need that?” Whispers.

Considering we have both active currently, I have encountered less poor player Behavior regarding loot in Mythic plus dungeons that I have in raid.

Selling drops is scummy and now a thing due to cross realm gold trading.

My suggestion is winning an item with a need roll should cause the item to immediately become soul bound. No 2 hour grace period.

Remove x-realm gold trading n also bring back personal loot. Group loot suffers the massive flaw of loot dropping that nobody can use at all a good portion of the time, personal loot don’t have that drawback.

PL would have been a perfectly balanced loot system, if there was absolutely zero trading allowed. But that wouldn’t be fun, so instead limited trading was allowed which led to various behaviors that either players or Blizzard found undesirable such as class stacking, auto-whispering in lfr, and people hiding their winnings. Blizzard then rubber-banded to the other extreme in GL where raid comp acts as a third layer of rng.
Cross realm trading enabling auctions is a separate issues.

I used to win personal loot and sell to the highest bidder all of the time though. It’s almost the same system.

Personal loot is better in that people who swap roles for gear aren’t screwing with the ratio of loot drops.

Need vs Greed rolling like we have now is better in that more people who truly don’t want an item can simply not take it making the looter pools smaller over time.

There’s no perfect system I guess. IMO we need dinar token system like at end of SL on top of double the loot dropping from Raid and M+. After about a month or two of playing a patch people should be able to pretty much get full max item level with a good chunk of their pieces being BIS. If they grind enough BIS should be obtainable in 2-3 months tops. I hate getting close to BIS only for the patch to reset because it takes so long to target gear and there’s so much RNG involved.

Just remove gold trading in groups. It shouldn’t exist to begin with.
