Loot Rules regarding Ties

If two or more people roll the highest tie roll, the game’s current loot system awards loot based on the alphabetical order of character names. However, in the case of a tie roll, those who rolled a tie should be given a reroll to determine the winner instead of relying on the game’s alphabetical order reward system.

Definitely time for a name change.

Not exactly. According to a support article, the actual rolls have decimal places, and the UI just truncates them to Integers.

Not sure I buy their reasoning about the system not showing a decimal place for the sake of “easy to read UI.”

I’d take one decimal place on rolls over seeing that Naz’suro emote for the Nth time.

Yea, they should fix this. With 8 players rolling, there’s about a 4% chance of this actually happening, which it pretty high actually. (And by “this” I mean the two top rolls matching.)

Percentage goes down with fewer rollers. About 2.5% with 5 rollers. Still a lot. How many zillion LFRs run every day?

Odd way of handling loot, if true.

Though the only source i seen saying that was some rando on the internets.

It’s not:

if that was the case, everyone would be named aaron and aardvark.

(honestly, where do people even get these crazy ideas?)

The UI shouldn’t do this so the players can see the actual results.

What would Blizzard know about this?!

I beat out a guildie on a tie. Their name started with an N

Screenshot or it didn’t happen.

So it’s a tie, but not a tie. Yeah, that sounds like Blizzard design.

So… someone explain what happened here… I rolled a 98 on the item there was 3 of. Guy ties me for 98. The next guy rolls a 93. guy after rolls 80. they all walk away with the loot item. I do not get anything. this boggles the mind. I have a screenshot off my phone. “couldn’t remember screenshot button.” Im Weezfreeze sorry should have put that in first post ``

Each item has its own roll, regardless how many are duplicates of other items. For the 93 and 80 roll winners, you most have rolled below a 93 and 80, respectively.

For the tied 98, technically the loot system is far more accurate than the integer we see. There aren’t actually ties, there is a decimal portion that will make the true number different. The game just rounds the visible roll to the nearest integer for simplicity. The other person who rolled the 98 had a true roll higher than yours.
