I tied with another person in raid for Volcoross amulet. It would not expire and neither of us got the drop. Its been almost an hour, will we get the drop?
Someone will get it mailed to them, but on the topic of ties in LFR, I’ve noticed that the second person to roll seems to always get the item?
Well its the next day so I guess I did not get it.
Yeah I usually just roll and leave the group. Expecting to get nothing but sometimes I log on and there’s loot in my mail.
"This is due to the user interface of the game only showing whole numbers, not fractions.
The underlying code of the game includes these fractions as part of the random number generator and rounds them down. For example, if 2 players rolled 88. In the underlying code one player rolled 88.527 the other 88.986, so the item is given to the 88.986 because it’s the higher roll.
This means that the roll system always knows which player has the highest number including all decimal points. In order to keep the user interface easy to read the game does not display these decimal points.
Since there is only 1 item, it will always go to only 1 player, that had the highest underlying roll."
If you didn’t get the item, then the other player you “tied” with did.
That actually makes a ton of sense now. Appreciate the response
yeah I looked into it and knew about the decimals. I was just wondering why it did not tell us who won.
