Loot protection on Legendaries

My guild has finished our 33 run in MC this week, and we are really worried we won’t have a Thunderfury in AQ40 and Naxxramas release which makes a huge difference.

We had 0 Eyes of Sulfuras drop, 2 Geddon’s bindings, and 0 Garr’s bindings so far, farming MC since October.

Same thing happened to me in 2005-2007, my guild ran MC for 2 years, doing ~100 runs and we never got a pair of bindings.

The current legendary loot system is pathetic, relys only on luck. There were guilds with 3-4 PAIRS of Bindings before BWL release in February, and there is us farming since October empty handed.

This is the problem with the current loot system, some people/guilds will be on the unlucky tail and never see raid items with 3-4% drop chance in the entirety of classic, while others will get it on their very first run.

Every week stepping in MC with the same chance as my very first run 8 months ago is really demotivating, specially nowadays that we get to know on twitch or reddit about the players that got both binding on first month of launch, guilds that have 9 Thunderfurys (5 from same core), and so on.

A Legendary item should be legendary not only by it’s rarity, but by the effort and dedication put into it. Don’t get me wrong, i am not asking to make it less rare, just don’t make it rely on luck only.

Yes, you literally are. Any change that would result in more of an item in-game is a change that makes the item less rare.

If Thunderfury were mandatory to have clean runs and maintain threat, you’d have a point. But it’s not.

Blizzard could lower the drop chance and add progressive factors, remove it from the loot table of PUGs (making a guild only drop) and so on. There are other loot systems that could be apllied to legendary items which would increase their rarity and lower the deviation on their distribution.

WAHH IM NOT GETTING LOOT BLIZZARD MAKE IT SO EVERY WARR ON THE SERVER HAS A THUNDERFURY BECAUSE IM A WHINY LITTLE BABY.

You know most guilds that are desperate for TF’s do split MC runs yeah?

If all your doing is having 1 raid team do 1 molten core per week don’t be surprised your not getting showered in Thunderfurys.

Asmongold literally only just got his first Thunderfury like 2 days ago.

Really sick of all the casuals demanding everything rare in this game be handed to them on a silver platter, go back to retail if you want your lootbox legendaries.

Why doesn’t your guild do two MC runs with 20-25 people per week? That’s what my guild did since we really, really wanted a TF before AQ40.

No changes.

We have been spliting for the past 2 months after we got second binding.

You are clearly missing the point, i am stating that the Legendary loot system rely only on luck, not on desication/effort. There are literally alts that got it on PUGs so far in my server. You have no idea what is to play the game for 2 years and never be able to complete a Thunderfury, but it happened to me and my guild in 2005-2007, and it will happen again this time because the Legendary loot system is designed in the same bad way, but if an increased drop chance.

It is statitics man, there will be a percentile of players/guilds that will never see some items, despite playing through all classic.

And guess what, when the binding drops, it will ACTUALLY be LEGENDARY, just like the title implies!

Some guilds get lucky and get double binding drop in the same id, other have to wait a year+ to get their TF, deal with it, your proposed changes suck.

My guild is one of those you’re describing. We’ve been running splits for months. We’ve seen 5 Geddon bindings and 0 Garr bindings. I still think this change would be stupid.

Nope. That’s how it is.

THIS IS HILARIOUS.

Bro. The vast majority of players know exactly what it is like to play the game for 2 years and never complete a Thunderfury because a very small % of the playerbase actually gets it.

People. these. days. are. so. entitled. to. everything.

Personal loot in retail might have taught you that you deserve to get everything you want at the same rate as everyone else.

Here’s a tip: you don’t. The real solution to your problem is you simply learning to accept that.

Here’s another little funny tidbit: you want Blizzard to make the item less valuable by removing RNG elements that lead to obtaining it? You literally want them to take away from the rarity and awesomeness of Thunderfury by making it so you and every person who complains about RNG can get their hands on it? No.

Guys a change in the loot system doesn’t imply making it less rare.

They should work on something that would give a better distribution, it is not a good system when you have raid groups with 4 Thunderfurys after 8 months while others have 0 because of luck. And i am not talking about guilds that split or have multiple cores, i am talking about single raid groups so we can make proper comparisons.

The way the legendary loot sytem is designed is very bad.

One strategy could be to have whoever needs the items form their own MC PuG groups, and reserve them. MC isn’t exactly “progression” raiding at this point, and is maybe not even something that needs to be scheduled as a guild raid group.

Just become a successful streamer and Blizzard itself will feed you the bindings. Easy.

What you’re asking for leads to vendors selling epic loot for tokens that drop off mobs.

I mean… you can either form your own group, and reserve things or join a group and pay for things you want, or hope for the things in your guild group, right now.

With those choices, do you want an addon, a forum poster, Blizzard, or something else to tell you what to do?

No one tells me how to play my game. What are you talking about?

Is this a comment directed at something I’ve stated or are you addressing the original comment?

Considering I was replying to your post, obviously something you stated. Maybe the bit about

I didn’t know that.

So… do you have a direct question or perhaps something to say about anything I’ve said?
