So as I experienced last night, a person can join a PUG heroic difficulty raid in full mythic gear and roll NEED on all equipment even though they have the same piece at mythic track or a mythic track item of better quality. That person when approached about the gear then tried to extort gold from me. When I submitted a ticket to blizzard this was their response.
When it comes to loot distribution in Heroic Raids, the game currently allows players to roll “Need” on items even if they have a higher track version of the same piece. This is part of the game’s broader loot system and isn’t something we can manually change or interfere with. We know it can lead to some confusing or disappointing moments, especially when the gear could have been a real upgrade for someone else.
So let me get this straight Blizzard… you’ve enabled gameplay where someone can come into a raid and without needing any gear, due to RNG can literally steal all of the equipment from the people who can actually use it and then extort them for gold… I don’t know about anyone else but… there have been plenty of times I got a piece a gear but I didn’t need or want or rolled need by mistake but someone else did and I happily gave it up without protest. I do not believe this is in the spirit of the game considering how difficult it can be to get certain piece of gear for those of us who are not in mythic raiding guilds or high-end organizations who feed gear to specific people on purpose…
This is a super easy thing to just fix as well and would require minimal coding on the current system at best. If you have a higher track piece of gear slotted, you can only roll greed or transmog on that piece of gear. Now only the people who actually need the gear can roll on it.
here we go again. lmao.
they showed up…they put in the work…and a blue has said already there is no rule violated in rolling need, even if they dont need it.
You’ll have to find a guild if you dont like running with randoms who roll need.
Sounds like your raid leader was totally OK with this.
Isn’t this how it works in LFR? I would love to go Transmog hunting but can never seem to roll on anything at all because I have a more powerful version of it.
Also, there is no “need” in a video game, it’s just a really really big want. I could easily argue that people who underperform in DPS don’t “need” a new trinket because they’re not really going to get as much use out of it as the player who performs better than they do. In the future, I would just abandon the raid and move on.
OP… Let me give you some advice. When you pug, you must accept the truth about said pug. Every single person in that groups, doesn’t give a darn about you. You are literally a number to them. The only reason they are there is a single person. Themselves. Your wants don’t even factor in to them, except when your wants interfere with their goals.
This is how the gaming world has shifted over the past decade, particularly in regards to pugs. Once you accept this fundamentally as the way pugs operate, you’ll stop being surprised when people do things like this. Just remember, if a pug can screw you over, they probably will.
In the words of Verin Sedai ‘If you expect the worst, all your surprises will be pleasant.’
What it sounds like you’re pining for is the WoW of the past, where the general expectation of the player base was to be more about community. In those times, people would look down on such players (even gasp in this very forum). Nowadays though, that’s just not how it works. Times change. Accept it.
Tl;dr - Pugs don’t care about you. Want a better experience? Make friends and play with them.
Not unless it was a dual wield sword, because that is impossible.
It’s not extortion to ask for something in exchange for their stuff.
No, they cannot steal from you. You can use /e to write a custom emote (and it’s funny as a rogue to type /e stole stole 371g 23s 13c from you) but you physically cannot steal from somebody without hacking their account.
today in classic we had a mage ninja a rogues gear in deadmines. took and left pt asap lol, dude was pissed lol. he said wtf? then went on his way lol. sucks but eh. had people ninja i just shrug and buy something off ah if i lose lol.
Technically speaking someone can roll need if they just want something to sell for gold. The bottom line is that if they won the loot its theirs to do with what they wish so long as they are following the rules.
Even though I disagree with this, the fact of the matter is you can currently roll just to vendor the gear for 80g.
Currently , the only solution is for you to also roll need on everything and continue the trend. When someone confronts you about it; tell them what you were told.
