It doesn’t matter what system a guild uses, the players who have stuck around the longest and been the most consistent will get gear first. Try being patient and dedicated to a guild before you come here whining that an officer got nelth tear over the guy who’s been raiding with them for only a couple of weeks.
Thinking that LC is more corrupt than DKP or all the rest of it is pure delusion. LC comes right out and tells you that a few people will determine who gets gear; the other systems play with imaginary good boy points manipulated by a few people to do the exact same thing.

You’re right, people should raid with FFA loot rules, first come, first serve for all drops. They have an illusion in retail that’s similar called personal loot.

So would you prefer a system where the guy who just joined last week has just as much a chance to get the item as you, who have raided with the team since the first week?
This guild doesn’t do loot council.
Loot council is almost objectively the best way to divide loot in any serious guild and rewards people who put in effort. If you are having issues with a corrupt council I suggest finding another guild, but if this issue happens to be reoccurring to you, I imagine the problem is coming from your end.

Loot council is simultaneously the best and worst loot system.
If your loot council is good, and doesn’t just give loot to friends (or even just the highest performers), it works out… but it still causes drama.
If your loot council is bad, it can easily destroy the entire guild.

What does that have to do with anything? Loot council works if there’s trust in the officers. The inherent possibility for bias is bad, but it’s a better system than DKP or NbG in a good guild because it takes into account the best interests of the group as a whole. Funneling gear via loot council is abuse of it, and you shouldn’t stay if that’s the case.

Each guild has their own system. In my opinion, Classic raids are too big for loot council but if it works for you, great.
If not, seek another guild. You have that power.

You can make it work. You basically have to run an internal DKP or EPGP system to make sure you’re distributing loot reasonably evenly.
Loot council invites drama and mistrust. Our guild uses a MS > OS roll system, which I prefer to loot council, but I’ve raided with a guild that uses DKP and I think that’s the best system.
