As a disclaimer I support total restriction across the board but alas baby steps.
Anyways here is a general example:
Cloth may now use leather appearances.
Mail may now use leather appearances.
Pretty basic.
This way, cloth and mail users will no longer get shafted by the atrocious decision to end class tier sets(least with those you could still mix and match respectively if your tier set sucked.)
Additionally for the other classes as well so they don’t feel left out, allow them to transmog free of any restriction for the following slots: Head, hands, waist, and wrist.
Thoughts?

If you’re concerned that much about it, just play FFXIV at this rate. They actually cater to the idea of transmog/glamour (their name for it) through adding a lot of cosmetic pieces usable by all classes and armor types. Blizzard does not have the capacity to do this just because of the general laziness. Think how many cosmetic items are in the game, and how many pieces that could be cosmetic but are arbitrarily restricted to certain armor types. I.E the only top hat in the game is either non-transmog, or it’s a caster item, and maybe the worgen racial one I vaguely recall seeing last I looked at retail in 8.3.
Straight up back in Legion bought an item for 500k that you couldn’t farm anymore just because it was a blackish hood with a leather armor type so my rogue could use a cowl and have a deathstalker like transmog.
Blizzard handled transmog terribly and continues to do so.
True, true.
I can’t get into FF14, there’s a lot of neat things in that game but sadly it’s just not for me.
That sucks sorry to hear, if it makes you feel any better I blew 3.5M on an appearance in ESO and don’t really use it much.
I wanna know what you farmed now so I could look it up, always like reading those comments.
I don’t want to waste a wish but it would nice if Blizzard did something in terms of mog leniency.
I’ve always wanted a Baron Rivendare like mask that looks a little like the Sunroc Mask. Always thought that was the one look death knights lacked.
I didn’t farm it, I just bought it from someone who had it for sale. I believe the item was named “Cloaked Hood”. They had it listed for I believe 1 mil, I sent them a mail offering them 300k for it and then threw in an additional 200k because they were incredibly polite and friendly about it.
It dropped in Alterac Mountains off the Syndicate mobs which no longer exist as of Cataclysm. A very rare and valuable commodity in my opinion for anyone trying to achieve the RPG thief aesthetic. Think Shadowcraft Hood without the facemask.
Xmog restrictions should be lifted for anything of white quality and above I mean why does it have to be the green item or higher?
theres a ton of common quality items out there that look as good or better than some purples and even leggos yet they go unused for mogs due to being deemed unsuitable for mogging simply because they aren’t “good enough”

I would want mail too based on those covenant sets.
I wish restrictions were removed. Especially so I could finally mog my head piece to look like the green cowls all the Mountaineer/Rifleman wear. If NPCs don’t have armor restrictions I don’t see it as being fair the players do.
