Loose ends?

In Brackenhide Hollow, the final boss, Decatriarch Wratheye, escapes without us killing her. For context, she’s the source of the Decay magic plaguing The Azure Span.

Within the past few patches, Gnoll Mon-Ark (a friendly gnoll that we do quests for) returns and comments that Wratheye will return and be aiming for Amirdrassil.

We’re now only a week or so away from the final patch of Dragonflight, and there’s been nothing on the PTR (that I know of) that has anything to do with wrapping up this plotline.

We have quests about Emberthal’s Visage Day and the burial of a Primalist in Amirdrassil coming, but this plot thread (which would place Amirdrassil in potentially imminent danger) is nowhere to be seen?

I originally thought this plotline would be brought back as a way to drop Tuskarr as an Allied Race, but with us being so close to TWW now, I’m beginning to doubt that idea and just wonder what they’re saving this for.

I’d like for the decay magic threat to grow more and become a full story arc. I can see decay being a huge threat to the world soul.

I feel like most (if not all) expansions have a dropped plot and this will likely be DF’s. This one probably feels the most glaring to me since the dropped Cata content from Abyssal Depths.

It’s sad when they drop some of the most interesting story threads! I’d love to be wrong on this one!

Considering how often it was brought up I’d hope it’s a plot that’s carried forward into the next few expansions.

Make a few more quest chains where we “win” but which also show things are still in motion and perhaps we didn’t actually stop much of anything.

I see it as a story hook that will be carry into a different expansion. Like either we see Decay in action with Decatriarch Wratheye ending up with more recruits beyond Gnolls or we will evidence of her entering into an alliance with the Void or something and thus having an all out attack Amirdrassil during the events of Midnight as the Void seeks to claim/destroy Azeroth.

We don’t have to kill everyone we meet, you know.

Let’s leave the loose ends in the Dragon Isles in the capable hands of the Dracthyr and the Aspects, who I’m sure are itching to put their newfound “aspectral powers” to good use.

I suspect they backed off this plot point seeing the feedback from a lot of people saying they would rather gouge their eyes out than do further content related to Kaldorei and Amirdrassil.

I remember being in Vashjir during Cata, being like:

“Wow! This place has got to be important later. It just has that design and feel about it.”

I always look back with a mix of wonder at what could have been.

Kind of makes me think maybe a loose end might be better than cramming something in. At least in hindsight. Cata was pretty busy, a whole ‘nother raid tier might have been too much. It was probably wise to just save that theme for another time.

Blizzard leaves loose ends all the time to tie up in a patch or three down the road.

A moment of silence for Nar’jira, the baddest Battlemaiden this side of Azeroth! :pensive: I was hoping so badly we’d see her in Naz’jatar YEARS later but alas.

I still level alts through that zone just to re-live those quests.

It kind of has that mysterious wonder that OG Azshara had back in Vanilla. The imagination really runs wild with what was SUPPOSED to be.

Hopefully she’ll be present when Azshara returns. Who knows if we end up with playable Naga, fan interest might even see her as one of the faction leaders.

I’m pretty sure the gnolls were just there to present a scourge proxy in what was essentially a Northrend 'member-berries world tour.

I wouldn’t expect much to come of the Decatriarch’s escape. It’s an amazing title, though.

This is why I for the life of me cannot fathom why people fixate on such small lore issues when we have TONS of things like this.
But who knows, maybe they will revisit it. I actually swore we would see Gnoll allied race which would have been SUPER cool.
But, we got the next best thing, rock Dwarves

…yaaaaaaaaaaaay…

It could be Maldraxxus Corruption or Nurgle’s Rot and Decay kind.

Decatriarch Wratheye definitely feels like a forgotten plot element, almost as bad as Gunther Arcanus.

That makes me imagine the Chaos Gods in the Warcraft universe. It’d be screwed.
