Looks Like the Mighty Caravan Brutosaur might Be Unobtainable In 9.0.1 (Part 1)

Every stain on their reputation hurts them. As they say “the death of a thousand cuts”.

It takes time, but enough hits to your reputation and suddenly you’ll find Grandma Moses no longer invites you over for Thanksgiving and you miss out on her wonderful pies.

This is absolute garbage. I was saving up for a frog but its clear that Blizzard thinks artificial scarcity is good game design and that rather than spending gold on anything else I should save up for the inevitable 10 million gold mount in Shadowlands that will also go poof for no reason.

My collecting mounts is my core source of enjoyment in this game. When you start removing them for completely arbitrary reasons you make the game stressful. So now my options are to second-guess myself every single time I buy a mount or give up entirely (i.e. cancel sub).

You’re not the Blizzard I grew up with anymore.

Correct. Thats a new quality lens for a DSLR, which will bring me more pleasure over time in capturing memories versus $700 on a mount that was changed to be artificially scarce to line Blizzs pockets. I did that with the Esports toys like many others. No longer…

Blizzard relies on that. They know that Collections are a big thing. Sure, the QoL of them being in their own tab instead of taking up bag space was awesome, but you know that has only FUELED the drive for Collectors to complete their Collection.

They shouldn’t, but I don’t think it’s worth getting worked up about, especially since they’ll still be able to get it. There seem to be several “pools” the BMAH draws from and while there’s rng aspects to it, most stuff shows up on most servers pretty regularly. It won’t be up every day, but I bet it’ll generally be up every few months. There was a point when a friend and I got into a bidding war over a mount, we discussed how much we each had, and when it was clear he had more than me, rather than drive up the price to my maximum and cost him more, I agreed to step aside and I’d get the next one. The next one showed up a few weeks later. Multiple times, I’ve bought a mount for a lot, only to see it show up again within days or weeks and sell for a lot less than I got it for.

I mean, to bring up game controversies, this seems to be more on the level of Gamefreak making Galarian Meowth hideous as opposed to removing most of the pokemon. The first is, “Wow, that’s stupid, I wish they hadn’t done it, but oh well.” The second is freak out worthy. I think people in this thread are acting like it’s the second when it’s an extremely minor thing (especially in light of Blizzard’s actions in recent years! I’d much rather save up the freakouts for things like removing flying rather than act like the sky is falling with every single controversy so they think none of it matters).

Im sure their eyes lit up when they see so many people using AllTheThings…

Sadly, I’d be more of a toy collector if the CDs on them weren’t so outrageous. Some have like a 4 HR CD for a 3 second cosmetic effect. That kind of kills my desire to collect toys.

I was starting to feel like I was ready to quit this summer, maybe for good.

I started playing back in classic day 1. Been around for a long time. Was nearly ready to quit back in Warlords when they said they’d remove flight. But then I was alright when they realized the mistake and at least decided to put it back albeit in a ridiculous time gated fashion.

The flight time gate, and just how lackluster BfA has been was making me feel like I just don’t really like Blizzard much any more. Flight delays, removal of Master Loot, over reliance on RNG, endless damned grinds, stupid titanforging gear you can never complete and cap out and feel good about… all of it was just making me feel like, you know, I might be done with their BS. I don’t even know this company I used to love at one point.

Then they had a good Blizzcon this year. I saw their direction for Shadowlands, and it looked like maybe just maybe they had learned from some of their mistakes and were going to reverse course enough to right the ship before it sunk for good.

I was excited for Shadowlands. I’ve been playing more since Blizzcon than I probably have since about a year ago.

Then I see this crap. There is no justification for this. None. IF you had told us from the start of the xpack that it was going to be a limited time item, I could have accepted that. To tell us at this late date, with who knows, maybe less than a year before the new xpack that you’ll have to make 5 million gold in such a short amount of time… or you lose your chance for it forever. That’s just a scumbag move to spike token sales, and it’s incredibly transparent.

I don’t even feel like logging in tonight. Way to take the good will you earned with Blizzcon and the direction you seemed like you were going to go with Shadowlands and just toss it in a raging dumpster fire.

What is wrong with you guys? Seriously… what… is… wrong… with… you?

I used to love you guys as a company. I have been willing to forgive some mistakes.

But you guys are making it very damned hard to even bother supporting you and giving you any money for your product any more.

The problem is what will the rarity be for it to show up on BMAH, will people keep the gold they finally ground out to 5mil, only to get into bidding wars with others to belt it up to gold cap. Will it start at 5mil gold bid? less? more? Do you keep the 5mil gold for the next gold sink mount that will eventually be in shadowlands. Do you purchase it straight away knowing now they may make the next one artificially scarce near the end of that expac… we are all losing here, whether you realise it or not

gotta get that token money I guess

That’s why so many of us speak up. We’re not whining. We just want to see the company go back to the beloved days of Blizzard North.

You know, when the phrase “soon™!” was a mark of pride. When it actually meant something of value.

These days, its used as a mocking term by players for the most part.

Decisions like this are so far removed from the glory days of Blizzard North its pathetic.

Tokens for the US are now at the new 7 day lowest gold value. SUPRISE!

So the availability will drop to about 0.1% of what it is now. That’s not really “available” the way most people would describe it.

Right before Christmas too, when people are likely to splurge on themselves or others.

Way to blow all the good will you garnered with the anniversary event on a transparent cash grab.

I know this is serious, but reading this just made my night. It’s exactly how I feel. Well done.

Right now its not a matter of competition. It’s a matter of having the gold.

Items on the BMAH are a gamble on multiple levels. You have to hope RNG puts it up, then you have to fight against people with more disposable income than you probably have. And finally you have to regularly monitor the current bid to make sure someone doesn’t outbid you.

That’s just garbage BS when they could simply go “we’re making it a FoS if you get it now, but you can still Buy it come Shadowlands”.

THAT would be acceptable. I mean, they’ve done similar before. Where getting certain things when they were “current content” awarded an Achievement. You could still get said thing later, but you didn’t get the achievement.

Which funny enough would STILL get them an increase in token sales from people who want the FoS.
Not AS MUCH though

They bank on people being more loose with their wallets come xmas time. It won’t be the first time they put something up on the cash shop to try and milk some extra scratch out of people.

They’ve been doing this a lot lately, too. First, it was the sudden removal of the ability to obtain the “Field Medic” title. Then, it was the sudden removal of a bunch of Shop items. Then, it was the sudden removal of the ability to obtain the old RAF rewards. Now, they’re doing it again with the sudden removal of the Mighty Caravan Brutosaur mount.

For the removed Shop items, the old RAF rewards, and the Mighty Caravan Brutosaur, it certainly looks a lot like a giant cash grab to me.

I suppose next they’ll start selling Battle Passes for Rated PvP and Mythic+ seasons, too. Spend like $39.99 or something to unlock the chance to earn exclusive rewards each season.

Like Warlocks and their green fire. Got it during MoP? Here’s a title and a FoS for it, but it will stay available for anyone else who wants it.
