It’s not a questionable decision from their pov, it will make them money. They know we can’t stop our addiction so they do as they please.
That’s why so many of us speak up when Blizzard screws the pooch and doesn’t even buy them a bottle of wine first.
Because we remember the days when Blizzard openly cared. We want to see those days return. And its saddening to see them growing worse and worse in so many ways.
Idk, they’ve all but succeeded in killing my addiction. WoW has become an occasional activity for me.
How is that not spreading a rumor?
More or less for me as well, but here I am.
The only time this meme has legitimately made me laugh.
WoW has become an occasional activity for me.
I think for many the reason they still play is the sunken cost fallacy. That and they’ve got too many friends here. When people say its due to friends, I’ve told them bluntly to persuade them to join them in other games. Where the devs, to a degree, still at least act like they care.
Say what you will about FF14, but at least the devs there TRY and listen to the playerbase.
FF XIV takes up the majority of my MMO time and with good reason. I love it there, even if I don’t always agree with their decisions. No company will ever succeed in pleasing everyone though. SE just seems to do it more often than not.
Well, to be clear, I have the mount and have had it since the first week of BfA, and I’m against its removal, as much as I was against the removal of Mage Towers despite having all but the healing appearances, against the removal of “Friendship” mounts despite having WoD’s and Legion’s, and against the removal of legendary quest chains of MoP and WoD despite having completed those.
Alright…so how does one make this much gold before Shadowlands drops? Cause I’ve never made more than 300k across my entirety of playing this game…

Because you care about the gameplay experience of those other than yourself, which is empathy. Which this society is fatally lacking.
Alright…so how does one make this much gold before Shadowlands drops?
Play the auction house like mad, becoming a master of it. You know, take items worth 35g and selling them for 3500g. That and of course whip out your CC. It’s ONLY several hundred dollars for the mount!
Anyone remember the Horse Armor DLC?
“It’s ONLY a small amount.”

You buy 25 WoW Tokens. Which is the exact intent.
More absolute nonsense. There has been EXTENSIVE inflation since the Mammoth and Yak, and saying the Brutosaur isn’t like them is, as I having been saying, totally disingenuous. It’s a really expensive vendor mount. End of story. What else are people going to compare it to?? Ashes of A’lar?? And no one cares what you bought on day one. Someone playing this game 3 expansions from now should be able to buy this off the same vendor it’s on now.
The amount of inflation between MoP and BfA does not add up to 5 million being the equivalent of 120k. It just doesn’t. You can say it’s nonsense, but I’m telling you this is what Blizzard has said about the spider and the brutosaur and the difference between them and the goldsink mounts. The goldsink mounts today are things like the frogs, that cost 333k each. And I can tell you that having had the goldsink mounts in the past versus having the prestige mounts that Blizzard seems to have accomplished what they were intending. There was prestige of the in-game sort in having the spider and the brutosaur. Meanwhile, I don’t think I’ve ever gotten a whisper at any point from a stranger about any of the goldsink mounts.
I personally think limiting things in a game for the sake of “prestige” is extremely silly (oh, aren’t I so special for having something that thousands or millions of other players have, it’s so amazing! And yes, that is sarcasm.). But the devs have said over and over that they like that sort of thing. Given that they’ve already stated that the brutosaur is seen as a prestige item and given their history with prestige items, I don’t think it’s a stretch at all to suggest that this is likely a factor in their decision making process.
As far as I’m concerned, they shouldn’t take stuff out of the game. But this isn’t being taken out. You’ll still be able to get it. It’s also something the vast majority of the playerbase wasn’t ever going to get anyway. I’d think it was stupid if they decided to, say, remove the rank 4 essence off Mythic Azshara with 8.3 too. But I also wouldn’t think it was worth getting worked up about, especially since it would affect so few players.
I’m sure you, personally, could have gotten it eventually (I’ll note that you still have plenty of time and still could off the regular vendor!). But I’ve also seen what most players are like with their gold. A significant number of my guild rarely reach the low six figures. A number of them have to scramble or even borrow semi regularly from me in order to buy tokens. Some of them rarely have more then 10-20k at a time (and most of that comes from raffles we run). I feel quite safe in saying the vast majority of the playerbase, regardless of what they thought they might someday do, were never going to save up five million gold for the mount. Ever.
"Good news everyone!
We heard that you were recovering from the bad taste in your mouth and beginning to look forward to the upcoming raid, and the next Expac!
We take our jobs seriously at Blizzard, and immediately set hard at work to come up with something unfathomable that, yet again, would leave a bad taste in your mouth and cause you to question why you play our games.
We knew, that some of you had set your sights on this incredible mount, but also wanted to enjoy our end game content, not to mention the legion of players that couldn’t possible log into our game four times throughout the day to relist their auctions.
We set off to data-mine, and created a Venn diagram that encompassed portal longing, water striding, and mount/achievement collecting! It was a lot of work, and we hope it hits its mark, reviving that bad taste in your mouth when you think of Blizzard Entertainment!
For extra sauce we made a Dino joke, too!"
Well, it worked. Consider the hype diminished and another straw added. You must have gathered those who propose these ill-will ideas into a department and given them a budget. Just leaves me shaking my head.
You’ll still be able to get it.
You’ll have to watch the BMAH like a hawk. Hope that RNG supports you. And THEN, and ONLY then will you get the “right” to fight against people with more disposable cash than you, to get it. Because you know they’ll start the bidding at probably 5-7 million gold.
I mean, I’ve seen them put up pets on the BMAH for 10k gold, ones that are regularly available on the regular AH for under 2k gold.
Yeah, Blizzard wins both ways. They win for the rush now from obsessive collectors. They win later when these same collectors try and get them off the BMAH.
It’s Bethesda / EA level of shameless greed.
Anyone remember the Horse Armor DLC?
At this point in gaming history, Horse Armor DLC is downright benign and even lovable in retrospect. But what it started…well, good god on that one.
I didn’t think Blizzard could possibly make a decision that literally everybody agrees is a terrible decision, but here we are.
It happens. Every so often a group does something that pisses everyone off. That’s usually a sign you’ve done goofed.
I mean, how often do the Democrats and Republicans agree on anything (for example)? When they do, its genuine news. I honestly can’t think of the last time they agreed on anything but what day it was.
This comes out of nowhere.
I would love for someone on the Team to explain why they feel the need to remove this vendor mount from the game.
In a long tradition, expensive vendor mounts like this never had a “Get it now or miss out” kinda catch to them. They were always long term goals players could work towards over the life of their play experiences.
Quite frankly, this sucks. Partly because I need another 1.7m to buy one, and partly because I find the removal (And rather late announcement) as a bad idea. I don’t see how removing this item from it’s vendor next expansion would improve the game.
