Let’s not get crazy now. All the other races being all the classes at least makes sense, but worgen and goblin monk, I mean, that’s really out there. I just don’t see how the lore could possibly allow it.
Which is dumb because now it comes down to them not wanting to spend the resources for anymore combinations of those classes.
Worgen, LFD and Goblin monk is quite literally a flip of a switch to make them available to players.
Oh I agree with Monk. With the Exiles Reach intro, anything can be a new race/class combo. It’s the generalized.
I’m willing to give them the benefit of the doubt on classes that need to be tailored for the race, Wakefield since they did team reshuffling at Blizzard.
Because imo it’s a bad thing. It removes distinction between class/race combo and uniqueness.
In retrospect it probably was inevitable since they slowly did it for warrior and dk. I might be making a lightforged rogue to fire secret space lazors.
Night Elves Paladins Soon™ hopefully
So, just throw this out there if it happens. The Druid Population will skyrocket once regular Humans and Blood Elves are added to the mix. Which, to be honest I am really looking forward to adding a BE druid to my Tauren, NE, & Troll Druid List.
It doesn’t remove squat when I’m out here killing beggars for the crown as a Draenei lmao
You can go play classic then.
Restrictions like this in 2022 is such an archaic choice.
Ugh come on.
All race Paladins.
lmao.
For once I agree with you undead paladins make sense we seen a undead priest using the light. No reason why we can’t have an undead paladins you can keep that lore that it hurts them and ironically make them more metal.
Honestly, I HATE the idea of opening up too many of these Race/Class combos. I think adding SOME additional ones would make sense – an “Eredar” or Nightborne Demon Hunter, for example – but I think SOME restrictions are absolutely, fundamentally important.
To me, while people love citing D&D as an example for “why people should be able to do anything they want”, I would argue D&D is also fundamentally very different.
See, D&D ISN’T about the “world” or the setting; it’s about the players. But WoW’s appeal has always been the WORLD of Warcraft, getting to see and experience all these new, interesting cultures.
And Race/Class combinations are an extension of those cultures.
Only certain races can be Druids; that immediately communicates that Druids are a class that have a deep connection to nature, and that races that CAN be a Druid ARE connected to nature, culturally.
Letting Night Elves and Orcs be Mages was a terrible idea, because for the former, that was LITERALLY the cultural distinction that lead to the Highborne breaking away and eventually evolving into High/Blood Elves, and for the latter, Orcs have NEVER been “studious, scholary wizards”.
Now, I’m not opposed to “adding new Lore to JUSTIFY new combos”, although there’s rarely been the case. Tauren Paladins, for example, remain COMPLETELY disconnected from the Paladin class. They’re literally just “Sun Druids”, and that means “Paladin” is just a series of buttons.
And that’s it; not only does each RACE have a rich, interesting history behind it, but so does every CLASS. But when you just say “eff it, everyone can be everything, it doesn’t matter”, you’re throwing away ALL of that history. Races become nothing BUT “how they look”, and Classes become nothing BUT “the buttons you push”.
So as much as I’ve been impressed with everything I’ve heard about Dragonflight, this specific thing makes me INCREDIBLY nervous. Because it undermines both Races and the rich history and cultures they bring, and it also undermines the Classes and the history they bring as well.
Worgen regain their sanity by the end of the Gilneas starting zone. The argument that they’re “too enraged” never made sense. Even if that were a factor, monk’s whole thing is promoting inner peace which would still be appropriate for the race.
Goblin is a bit more of a stretch but I don’t think it’s totally out of the question. Kezan’s a rough city and there’s probably plenty of fights breaking out in its streets and alleyways. So looking at it as more of a brawler would make sense for the race.
If you don’t like it, don’t create any characters of those combinations, and it won’t affect you. Play what you like, and other people will play what they like. It’s that simple.
The only two I think won’t be for all races are Druid and Shaman simply because they’d have to introduce a ton of new Druid forms and Shaman totems.
All I want is Worgen Monk and Drani Warlock.
Even though the Drani Lock doesnt make much sense I still want it
Great news they can create lore as to why they can be these classes now some of which already have it such as Draenei rogues being rangari.
What what what what Yeeeesssss
FINALLY
ffs ive been asking for this for literal years.
Now do warlocks!
