Let me first start by saying I’m undergeared. Stopped playing I think in 9.1.5 (or around there, have only 40ishk hp, whatever 1600 was, I got bored and stopped) so ya, it’s gonna be a lot of fun getting my face kicked in in normal bgs or whatever til I get to a baseline. Also, I’m not trying to be glad.
That said, I haven’t kept up with what the “meta” is in terms of disc vs holy when it comes to pvp for RBGs as well as 3s. I was playing disc throughout this xpac and am wondering if it’s still considered a good spec that people want to bring along, or if things have shifted towards holy being the only way to go in both 3s and RBGs. I guess I’m a bit confused since I have some friends claiming holy is the “only” way now, but perusing the leaderboards, the top 100 3s/RBGs seems to be mostly disc when it comes to the priests in there. That’s obviously a small sample and well above my abilities, but I didn’t have the time to scroll through a bunch more and check.
So tl;dr - is disc still something people would gladly bring to 3s/RBGs or is it now holy? Or are both equally viable depending on the role the team wants them to fill? Thanks!
Holy is meta and I don’t pvp. Disc can do stuff like a 20s key with it’s just no where near as easy/powerful as holy.
I honestly think holy is pretty good in pvp r now. Same tools as disc with dispells, fear, mc, shining force. Only thing disc really brings is pain suppression and rapture.

Holy and disc are on the opposite ends of the healing spectrum so figure out which side you’re on and pick that. Holy is basic, easy, reactive. Disc is complex, reactive. Do you want a low skill floor or high skill floor?
Holy is numerically overturned right now, but disc is still very, very strong in pvp.

I’m hesitant to say they were over-nerfed, but Holy has been knocked down several pegs this season. Their top 3s comp atm is literally just RMP, whereas disc is finding more success with more comps, and with more general representation. I can’t comment on RBGs, but if you’re looking at 2s/3s, then I’d put the effort in to learn Disc.
Holy was the best for a while, but yeah, has been hit quite hard repeatedly and is mid/lower representation for this season as a result. Note I’m not discouraging playing Holy - it’s fun - but Disc is the go-to for arena atm, with Holy mostly being pigeon-holed into RMP.

Disc is better for RMP and any set up comp due to dark arch.

Most represented version of RMP atm is still sub/fire/holy, hence my comment. RMP doesn’t need the extra damage in goes (ty resonator), whereas priest setup matters a lot more. You saw discipline a lot with jungle before, though, and that’s still extremely strong.
