Looking for simple video editing software

Can anyone recommend a Windows program for doing simple video editing? Nothing fancy - I’m not looking for Final Cut or Adobe Premier, just something I can use to trim the beginning or ending off a video or export a small clip from the middle of a longer recording.

I’ve been doing this stuff for years using Quicktime Player on my Mac, but now that I’ve upgraded my desktop I think it will run HandBrake a lot faster than my laptop, so I want to move my video work over to Windows.

Blender is free, I know it’s technically 3d modeling software, but it comes with video editing that, while basic, will allow you to do what you need.

We use the Adobe toolset, but there are a few options for you:

Windows 10 has a built in editor called “Video Editor”.

I’ve never used it, but according to that link you can trim videos.

Also, before we switched to Adobe, we tested out Shotcut, which is great (and open source) if you want to do anything more advanced:

Shotcut is a free, open source, cross-platform video editor for Windows, Mac and Linux. Major features include support for a wide range of formats; no import required meaning native timeline editing; Blackmagic Design support for input and preview monitoring; and resolution support to 4k.

If you have Phtoshop it can do some editing. Also if you’re uploading to Youtube you can edit it once it’s uploaded.
