I haven’t mained hunter since early cata, and my classic pvp experience on hunter is probably irrelevant. Does anyone have a suggestion for which guides/content creators have good basic info for marksman pvp, that is relevant to prepatch and the expansion?
I’ve always heard people talk down the wowhead and icy veins guides. Most of the guides I google up are from older patches

The wise would take it with a grain of salt. It hasn’t actually gotten hard yet. At face value it looks the continuation of a “kinder, gentler” Marksman Corps.
DF must have really softened things up for the spec. Magical damage having that kind of resolution…
You know, when I was a kid in the class/spec we had to walk to school 5 miles uphill barefoot in the snow to get a frag. 
These youngsters today seem to have it so easy, or do they. Soull improved slower than the game got easier, but as the Asmongold of the Hunter class he’s…watchable. As for Jelly, he never bothered playing more than one MM at a time. Jelly himself would have been coded out in a dual Sniper Shot/RFire open like a redheaded stepchild by a Bhad Bhabie comp.
Even still, I would think that if MM really got this easy, it won’t be enough to break the hold La Cosa Beastmaestrosa has on the Hunter class. BMs would complain, as THEY THEMSELVES would NOT have Wailing Arrow, that they would be doing substantially less magical damage.
I wouldn’t expect this to last, unless Blizzard actually tells BM to frichen offen. That’ll be the day.

I don’t know. I’m inclined to go with Jackal’s take here. Looks can be deceiving. Hunter practically being ignored and allowed to freecast for so long? Not even Cash had it that easy against some teams and comps.
Nothing made Hunter so strong to where it’s no longer an easy target. That’s why I decided that at least in this limited survey, everyone’s a noob now. All the GOOD, EXPERIENCED PvPers went somewhere.

The short version: I don’t know what it helps to propagate bad information, but I wonder if it even matters because some of the best Hunters in the world were not only borne out of NO information. At least one was, quite literally, birthed out of a Trade chat troll. I’m not ashamed(laughs) that I’m literally trollspawn.
Had Eonar and Velen not merge, it might not have happened. Had my application to get in Beeroism been rejected, it might not have happened. And if it wasn’t an Aussie enjoying more of that 1A here in an MURICAN MMORPG, it might not have happened. I was just a nobody, an unaccomplished core raiding Warlock running with the wrong crowds, who was in the right place and the right time to become, arguably, the best ganker in the world who has even slapped around the odd Rival and Glad.
Griefs can’t stop what’s coming, not even to embarrass me. He could waste the entire Worldsoul Saga of his life in a hell of his own making too, on top of the 5 years, and it wouldn’t change one iota. But my existential issues run deeper because Hello Kitty. When will WPvP REALLY come back? When will COMPETING FACTIONS be a thing again? Marksmanship now is a beautiful engine, yes, but where’s a worthy mastercrafted POWERTRAIN?
It’s like buying a Ferrari engine to have and someday enjoy driving a DIY Ferrari, but there’s no market for the other parts. It would take an actual genius to fabricate the rest of the parts to make the engine worthwhile and worth the money. I’m hoping I can ADVISE Hunter mains in this area, as someone who has successfully maintained and driven this car, while learning to drive and compete in older MM machines.
I guess I’ll just stick to Classic. We might as well use the forums to talk about SoD Hunter, because it’s new.
There’re threads there already, but in the esoteric sense, we could probably use these tubes to ensure that Hunter does well in SoD. It would be a far better use for that than the real same ol’ act we’ve been using to seeing, yes.
After all, this is a CLASS forum: it’s not specific to Retail nor Classic.
Especially if Hunter is still going to be the same 1-spec class like it has since Legion. The resident evil trolls here mobbed up with LCB are keeping it that way. Runes seem to be the true pioneering of what might have been. I even found a comment about petless Hunter being the meta now. Lone Wolf is REALLY something other there: 35% more damage with all abilities. And that’s for ANY Spec, to include BM which is funnily antithetical. Expensive to get though, but my damn…
