Looking for new game

As some of you might know, I’ve already unsubbed from wow and ffxiv. I’m not rehashing why, except to remind people that I’m retired, have had two stokes, and have RA. I also suffer from acute social anxiety. However, being retired, I need something to do, so…

I’m looking for a new game to play. It needs to have the customizable characters and great open world content, like an MMO, but be entirely solo-friendly, like a single-player game with an amazing story. Content must not be gated behind group play.

I already have D4 on pre-order, but it won’t arrive for almost half a year. I’m looking for something like Halo or Gears of Wars, but with customizable characters. I don’t want to play Master Chief, for example. Like, a combination of the play and feel of a story-based game, with the creation option of FFXIV.

I’ve looked around, and this may have been a waste of a post, but in case I’m missing something, I had to ask. Is there anything at all like this out there?

Elden Ring I guess? Wouldn’t really go out and say a lot of games are single player friendly and being an MMO.

I guess just play Skyrim mods until the heat death of the universe or they finally make Elder Scrolls VI, whichever happens first.

It doesn’t have to BE an mmo, just feel like one. Large, open world areas, lots of questlines, dungeons you can solo, etc.

What about God of War? Like Ragnarok or 2018. Doesn’t have character customization Has a good story, lots of side quests, very open world.

Or Guild Wars
Or Black Desert

I tried that once. I couldn’t get past the opening few scenes without throwing up. For whatever reason, it made me nauseous.

Ooooooo MOUNT AND BLADE: BANNER LORD

For those months of wow burn out. This is a great game.

Yeah but like unironically, Skyrim and/or Fallout

Everything you’re asking for, and if you get into the modding scene there’s literally endless user-made content.

There’s mods that change the opening scenes too lol

I’ll check it out.

Have you heard? The critically acclaimed MMORPG FFViV has a free trial up to level 60, and you can play up to the award winning Heavensward with no restrictions!

Heh, yeah. I played these a long time ago. Not good enough for them. I’d reach a point, then fail every times, eventually quitting.

I’m really limited at what I can do. I have a LOT of problems, both physical and mental.

You obviously didn’t read the post. I’ve been playing FFXIV but recently unsubbed because you can’t skip the dungeons and raids, and I’m not good enough to solo them, even with the NPC squad.

Elder Scrolls Online is basically an MMO that plays like a single player game, solo dungeons everywhere, all story-based, tons of content. Might want to take a look. It isn’t for everyone (I don’t like the combat) but it’s worth a look since it seems to have some of the things you’re looking for.
