Looking for Friends

I don’t think that it’s a secret that the current systems in WoW don’t exactly encourage socialization. The random groups, quick nameless interactions, and cross server matchmaking don’t exactly let players get to know one another. I have been playing off & on since Mists and throughout that whole time, I can probably only remember a handful of players who I really got to know and become friends with… and I mean a literal count-on-your-fingers-handful. I don’t think this is the time or place to complain about the game’s systems but since my first toon was created, it’s been a honest to god lonely adventure. I’ve been apart of a few guilds and participate in discord and try to socialize whenever I can but every guild I’ve been in just seems… off. The point of what I’m trying to say is that I’m looking for some new folks to play with, to become friends with. As sad and cringeworthy this post may sound, it’s just blatant honesty.

Some things about me are that I first played World of Warcraft when I was 11 after seeing the Cataclysm trailer on tv and had my dad get me WoW for my 11th birthday, I made a troll hunter and swam out into the ocean ending up on that island where you can now tame those mechanical spider pets for hunters, and was instantly killed. A few years later after MoP was well and through, I was bored one day after being blown off by some friends and remembered this game and downloaded it. I caught the very tail end of MoP and started playing in WoD (an awful time to start, I know). I made an orc shaman and played very poorly for the first few months of WoD before rerolling to a hunter. At some point I deleted this characters for some reason and switched servers/factions and made my alliance toons in no specific order. I spent most of Legion playing a BM monk which I love and a frost DK. I’m currently maining a hunter in BFA. I love PvP and have been playing casual/random matches since whenever I first hit a level cap but could never find people to play ranked with. I am looking to get my hand in the ranked scene if any of you are up to it. I also want to do some actual raiding. Nothing hardcore but maybe heroic or even mythic next tier before the next next tier rolls around.

Sorry for the long and personal post, this is my first post on the forums so I have no clue how I’m supposed to do these things. Some general info about me personally is that I’m an 18 year old guy playing on east coast severs.

I have like 3 close friends still from TBC. 1 still plays actively. I added quite a few people to my facebook over the years. I stopped having good friends in WoD. My RBG group and raiding guild fell apart. Then my playing was so sporadic that the friends I do make I kinda forget them lol :roll_eyes: They sit in my friends list and I have no idea who they are.

I made some friends at the end of legion but the same thing happened after BFA dropped and I got bored. Now I’m hesitant to become invested with people again. I’m actually a really social person too.

I kind of do a lot of solo content these days, kind of bored of the rat race. I spend my days doing old raids, rep grinding and achievement hunting. A lot of people aren’t into that stuff anymore, preferring the hamster wheel. Good Luck OP :kissing_heart:

Alcaz Island had mechanical spiders you could tame back in Cata?!? I didn’t even know hunters could tame mechanical pets back in Cata, WoW!

No I just ran into the level 20 pirates or whatever were there and got killed. I was a little kid playing Call of Duty for the most part back then. I just called it the island where you can tame mechanical spiders because that’s what it is now

yeah, but I didn’t know Alcaz Island had mechanical spiders on during the Cata expansion. I didn’t even know hunters could tame mechanical pets at that time.

I understand - I am the last regular player in my guild. It’s mean and a real life friend who only plays a couple hours a week. The other regular player hasn’t logged on in weeks… (I hope he’s okay). And my friends list is a ghost town now because so many people have left.

I can add ya (meg#1800), but it’s been my experience these posts never lead to interactions/friendships either.

Like, any time I’ve added or offered my btag in these threads, we may talk once or twice and that’s about it.

It’s not upsetting, I just think it’s equally random to add friends from here. People aren’t as social as they used to be.

i joined a community a couple of times to try to make friends. most didn’t stick. but i have one friend i made that’s one of my best friends period and we talk/spend time together every day. except on the days she sleeps in as she’s oceanic.
