Looking for advice on Resto and Guardian UI's

Hey everyone. I have decided to sit down and main my Druid for SL. I have only dabbled in my Druid over the years and mostly just Tank and Balance. I will prolly main as Guardian but I would like to learn Resto as well. I have tried Resto using nothing but ElvUI and I was terrified but that is the 1st time I have healed at all. I was looking for advise on what Addons you all like to use with Guardian and with Resto to help with Quality of Life. I currently am only using ElvUI. Thank yall very much for any advice.

I’d recommend VuhDo for a healing addon. A lot of people use mouseover macros to heal, but I think they’re insane lol, and VuhDo lets you click on your raid frames to heal. It’s much better than mouseover macros IMO. VuhDo is kind of overwhelming at first, but I think Icy Veins has a good guide on it, and getting a basic setup is pretty easy. It’s super customizable and I don’t know how people heal efficiently without it or a similar addon.

Otherwise, for any spec you probably want to download WeakAuras to help you keep track of cooldowns and stuff in the middle of your screen.

I personally have used ElvUI forever and for healing and it’s useful for other specs too.

I’ve used Clique.

It’s easier to set up than Vuhdo and more user friendly imo. It’s literally open a tab in your spell book. Go back to your spell page, hover over the spells you want, press whatever keybind you want and bam - done. Keybinds set.

Where as with Vuhdo - my Guild conned me into giving it a try this Xpac

I’m gonna give it through leveling in SL - if I still dont like it by then - I’m going back to Clique.

Yeah, Clique is definitely really easy to set up. I used to use it with Grid, not sure if that’s still a thing anymore. I use VuhDo now because it’s a lot more customizable, but if you just want a basic setup, then Clique will be fine. Either way, highly recommend clicking to heal, because IMO it’s much better and more efficient than using mouseover macros.

For guardian I use Weakauras for most of it, and use ElvUI for the rest.

In the middle I have a display for my rotation so i know when Thrash, Maul, Galactic Guardian, etc are ready to use. I also keep Skullbash here because It’s used very frequently and wanted it up front and center.

Under that I have a rage bar, a mana bar, and under that a bar to track Incarnation for when I have the talent or run Vision of Perfection.

Under that I have a small set of icons for all my movement abilities.

Under that is another small set of icons for PVP abilities should I be in warmode.

My and my targets nameplates flank that (ELVUI), offset from my central display by about an inch. My defensive cooldowns are under my nameplate along with my swiftmend/wildgrowth/starsurge icons for when i take those affinities. My CC and warstomp are under the targets nameplate so i can react with them quickly when I look at their castbar and see a problem.

To the left of the display i have a text number display of my energy for cat form should i shift to that. To the right of the display i have a text of the combo points I have. I used to have bars for that but found myself catweaving very infrequently and prefer the more minimalistic numbers.

I’m an engineer and found it helpful to have a small mouseover bar to the far right of the screen to keep my teleports/hearths/wormholes/portals etc. I also keep the mammoth keybound there to sell, and a Zulian Tiger mount for PVP when u cant get a full speed travel-form.
Same for professions and an execute macro to use one of several toys to desecrate my enemies corpses, you know… for nature.

Finally I set up a little red icon over my chat box to appear when I’m in combat, so I know when i should click travel-form for the 100%/flight-form version.
