Looking for advice: Guardian

I was reading about ripweaving/catweaving as Guardian druid and thought it might be something to try to play with.

But according to Icy Veins, you should wait until 6 Mangles to get a buff before going into cat form.

So two questions: What is the best way to track the 6 Mangles and/or the buff?

What does the buff look like and what is it called?

Tried the training dummies and was struggling to figure it out.

  • So you need to have chosen Hero Talent: Druid of the Claw
  • Inside that hero talent, on the left hand side you need to pick the choice node: Wildpower surge
  • Then for each Mangle you use, it’ll show up in you buff slots like:

It’s the one with the teeth and the 3 counter on it. As for tracking it, either good situational awareness, or someone can suggest a weak aura for it (I don’t use WA’s so i’m not the one to ask about it)

Thank you very much! I did the first two, but had no idea what to look for icon wise for the buff, things came and went so quickly when I was trying things against the target dummy. I did move the icons more to my line of sight when in combat, so at the worst, I’ll do that, just like I do for ironfur.

If you use WeakAuras at all, most of the more popular tracker packs should include a tracker for that when you have it talented. I use Luxthos’ packs and it definitely shows that buff on it on my Druid.

I don’t use WA but have considered seeing if that would help. Thank you for that suggestion. I’ll look for those packs.

No problem. I wasn’t initially a fan of WAs for tracking stuff, but on some specs they’re invaluable, especially DoT specs or specs with a lot of rolling buffs that toss your buff bar around.

I think Luxthos’ pack also evaluates the value of snapshotting on DoTs when refreshing, but I’d need to double check that one.

(Edit) It seems like it provides value evaluation of applying a new DoT right above each DoT on the tracker, relative to the remaining value and damage. So if it shows green or grey it’s good or neutral to refresh, if it shows red it’ll be weaker/less damage than your current application.
