Hi, I’m fairly new to RP and the interactions I have had have been fun, I was part of a guild on MG some time ago but due to circumstances out of my control they stopped playing. I really enjoyed the RP community and I feel that a lot of the time the community gets a bad rep. But I’m here today because I want to come over to WrA as a horde and was hoping some of you amazing folks could possibly point me in the right direction. Just to answer a few questions I normally get: I don’t really have a type of RP guild I’m looking for, I still feel that there is a lot of improvement to be made by me in my RP experience and still consider myself very new to RP, I haven’t hashed out what I want to make yet but have plenty of ideas. Other than that, I appreciate anyone who takes the time to read this and hopefully I’ll hear from you amazing people soon. Have a great day!
Hey if you want to bring your alliance characters over too! We will take them! WrA isnt only horde.
Hello there! Welcome to here!
Well given you don’t really know what you want to do besides Rp, the server is open to you. You could pcik from number of guilds and communities to join.
Ultimately I think it best that you think about what kind of character you want to make that you will enjoy playing and rping as. Maybe try out a few and visit Orgrimmar. Do some walkup if you feel up to it. Or you could watch others rping publicly. See what inspiration you might get that might help give you a direction.
Some questions that might help!
What races do you like on the Horde? Would you like to be in the Horde faction or neutral? Is there any roleplay types or themes you would like to do?
Until you narrow down what you would like you could rp and see what happens. Might find a guild through interaction.
One of the great things about WrA RP is the many open/public events. Non-aligned as well as faction specific. Every week there’s multiple things to do.
I’d recommend visiting public events & finding people whose RP you enjoy as a way to find a guild. All the people i RP with are open enough to recommend other guilds as well as their own.
This falls in line a bit with some thoughts I’d been having recently. While I’m not new to rp in general, I am fairly new to such in WoW and have pondered making a Horde side character on WRA or moving one I have already there as I’m of the understanding that WRA has the larger Horde population and that would hopefully mean more rp chances.
While WrA may have a larger Hordeside population overall, I’m actually not sure what the size difference is at present when it comes to the two servers’ Hordeside RP communities. Not all Horde players on WrA RP, after all. In any case, the fact that one may be bigger than the other is actually not as relevant as the fact that the two communities are different in atmosphere and style. Size is one form of difference, but it doesn’t necessarily matter all that much unless the availability of completely random walk-up with strangers is important to how you want to RP.
I highly recommend making a low-level alt on both servers before you pay to move a character, if you’re thinking about doing that. Either server could turn out to be the one that has the people, the guild, or the atmosphere you’ll most enjoy.
Just like the idea that Moon Guard is “for Alliance,” the idea that Wyrmrest Accord is “for Horde” isn’t true and doesn’t really serve anybody well.
Edit: I wrote the above having read your post as meaning that you don’t have any characters on MG-H, which I just realized might not be the case. Even if you have already given MG-H a fair look and decided it’s not for you, though, I do recommend making an alt on WrA-H to scope things out before paying for a transfer! Never hurts to be sure.
Thank you for the information and what you said helps a lot to narrow things down for me. I’m still somewhat getting my feet wet (so to speak). There’s honestly not a lot of races I don’t like, my problem comes with anxiety, it’s like I get into an RP group and then I’m completely silent because of my nerves lol but I can’t improve if I don’t fail. But I appreciate the response and advice!
Exactly!
It’s worth noting that creating a low level character is not the only option. I see MG characters at WrA events all the time. Many of the public event listings post who to contact as an anchor. Even if it’s not directly posted in a forum thread or group website, many of us on are on early for our events and are available to bring to characters over from MG until shortly before the event starts. So it’s perfectly possible to test the RP waters on WrA on the same character you’re contemplating moving. Or even stay on MG (or another server) for ooc activities, and just come over for RP events and more informal gatherings.
Which may actually be the best option if you are looking for an RP guild. Most of the good guilds are going to be a lot more enthusiastic about your application if they’ve already RPed with you on several occasions. My suggestion would be to get an anchor, participate in WrA RP - especially the major events where you’ll have the opportunity to interact with several guilds - then decide for yourself what the best option is.
Think about how often you see people sitting by themselves irl in a restaurant or coffee bar.
Using the teahouse as an RP example: we’ve got an informally designated “quiet table”. We’re welcoming for anyone who wants to sit in the back, get a sense of what’s going on, and keep to themselves. There’s always the whisper channels to let us know what you want to do and ask ooc questions without disturbing the flow. I’m sure many other events have RPers that are more than willing to do the same.
It may be counter-intuitive that big events such as ToA that happened recently are good for people with anxiety about direct interaction. Easy enough to walk around, sort of eavesdrop on conversations and activities while still being reserved.
You can kind of get a preview of people you may want to follow up on later, either at smaller events or for what I think of as “pre-arranged walkups”. Set a day and time to get together. imho a lot better chance of a good experience than walking up to some random stranger loitering outside the AH
Roll a fox! Or roll anything! We could use more active roleplayers, and I’d love to introduce you to a few ways to kick off your RP hobby on WrA-Horde.
Also as mentioned, we have a number of neato events going on. Smaller, or at least a more tame environment, so they’re less claustrophobic and chaotic as night time at the Wyvern’s Tail can get. Story Circle in Bloodhoof Village on Sunday, Mulgore Monday meetup with one of the Tauren guilds… all open to outsiders. Hell, my guild is doing an RP social at the Vulpera Hideaway (tonight) if you feel like just walking up. Don’t even care if you have literally zero reason prepared as to why you’re there- none of us will ask, because we’re more interested in what you do than where you came from.
Also, once you figure out what you’d like RP wise, make sure to keep an eye out for the guild faire, ran by Tammy.
I don’t remember when exactly it is (someone will surely remind me!) but it’s a good way of finding an RP guild too.
Welcome to Wyrmrest, feel free to whisper me ingame if you’d like an RP partner or can add me on bnet: Midnyte#11926. I’m RP shy but always like to find new contacts
