hi, i’ve figured out the melee i want to play, but ive played mage since mop and still enjoy it but was wondering if maybe elemental still does big burst? i know theyve been nerfed but just wanting to play another ranged.
ive never really played spriest since they dont burst, not a big fan of sustained classes.
Fire mage
Destro lock
Ele shaman
All of them have pretty consistant burst windows.
Shadow is sustained. Frost burst feels a bit boring. Arcane burst is too rng and kinda boring.
Destro or mage don’t bother with Ele.

OP needs to play Gpyro or Chaos Bolt. Those are the highest burst caster classes in game…
Silly scrubs using terms like fire mage or destro lock don’t know anything.
Is ele really that bad? I honestly dont know. Ive literally like never played a shaman
ele is decent, but there burst aren’t as huge as fire and destro. They’re more of a sustain damage class.
It’s not but it’s not as good as mage or lock.
Lock is turret simulator though, ele can move and cast so much literally feels like a huntard and earth shock can crit for dumb high damage
I don’t disagree I just think mage and lock overall are stronger. Ele is like a jack of all trades kind of spec but doesn’t do anything better than either of those specs outside of off-healing.
Like both fire mage and destro have crazy control with multiple CC’s. Both have higher burst potential than Ele. Lock is less mobile but the tankiest caster. Mage is less tanky but the most mobile caster (and has an immunity).
I enjoy playing Ele the most but I would always recommend mage and lock before it, especially when someone’s asking for bursty caster recommendations.
thats fair tbh, i can’t even really speak for the caster side im new to ele and only have played lock (mainly aff) prior.
Mage (specifically arcane) seems the most fun PvP spec in the game to me just I have 0 clue whatsoever how to play mage and seems a lot harder to than any melee spec. Especially against mongo melee comps.
I’ve never tried arcane, just played a little frost in MoP. Tried leveling fire mage in BfA wanted to die by 112. My first toon was a lock but it’s too boring for me now and the first time I touched spriest was in WoD and it’s so boring compared to that version so I kind of just went with Ele.
I did start gearing my lock as just a lul alt and current destro is the most forgiving thing I’ve ever played.
Either play frost and get triple tunnel + as many flashfreeze as possible and do bigass frostbolt crits with good sustain or play fire and combust + maledict + fblast -> fblast -> pblast -> fblast -> pblast and get your wins that way.
Ele is in such a weird spot compared to what it used to be, they just went backwards with it in everything except Lasso, hell Stormkeeper was just a maelstrom generator til recently

Unless you enjoy doing nothing but sitting still spamming fear and chaos bolt. That gets old real quick. Even those that main it agree it’s terrible design, BUT it wins matches and I’ll admit getting a killing blow with an infernal chaos bolt makes me say “boom headshot” IRL
