Looking at new GPU's, recommend?

Ha, no prob, I know more about these things than this thread lets on, I just haven’t kept up with a lot of the latest news on video cards due to the price gouging. This will be going into a new rig I want to build next year.

General consensus here says I’m good no matter what I choose, though I’m curious if anyone has a recommendation for board manufacturer like ASUS or MSi or other. Or are they all pretty reliable these days too?

WoW is CPU capped 80% of the time so I think you should look there.

Especially if there’s a lot of players nearby.

i cant look there much at all its a 13900k with ddr5 6000 xmp enabled. absolute max i could reasonnably afford

ill wait for wow to figure it out lol. one place in the game in the double digits fps is not gonna hurt me heh

I mean, your eyes can’t see much of anything past 60FPS anyway, so I don’t see a need for super high frame rates.

okay buddy good troll

maybe yours cant lol

the difference when going from 60 fps to 165 is incredible. if you dont notice it (or you actually play at 60fps) …i feel for you D:

This guy trying to justify his big spending so hard

Actually, most people won’t notice the difference between 60-120FPS. The refresh rate of your monitor is what gives you the biggest difference in what you see, it’s what keeps your games from ghosting when you pan the camera around.

Also, not trying to start a flame war, need to stay on topic.

youre wrong. it depends what you do and from person to person. and you can train it.

youd have a point if you said over ~220 fps though. ask the USAF

are you sure yall arnt trying to justify running at a mere 60 fps? thats… bad.

USAF gets all the fun toys…

I have 3060 ti and 5600x and I never go below 90 frames, even in Valdrakken. That’s 1440p as well.

Also hz and fps aren’t the same, problem with 60 fps capped games and 60 hz monitor is when they are out of sync, less of a chance this happens if you have a 100hz + display.

i get perma 165 pretty much everywhere (165hz monitor) but drops to ~90 in valdrakken usually yes.

feels a lot less smooth at 90 than it does at 165. i wish i didnt notice it. but i do. youre lucky if you can stand it lol

i dont think it has to do with the amount of ppl in there since oribos had no issues sticking to the 165 even when filled with people. something about valdrakken.

That’s latency, not due to fps. Try disable syncing options.

I was messing around with settings because I was having absolutely terrible FPS in some areas. I found that when I changed the Ambient Occlusion Type to ‘Auto’, it cleared up a lot of the low FPS I was having. Not sure why it was set to something I couldn’t use.

im not about to change anything when theres only one place in the game that has that problem, and its not a place where i fight anything so… just mildly irritating.

I have a 3060 and it’s been great for WoW and all modern titles. I highly recommend it. So a 3060ti would definitely be plenty.

Yup, I use a 3070 on 1440p and it drops some in Valdrakken even on graphics 8, which is what I play on. I kept everything default besides the 3 draw distance sliders that I maxed. I don’t have a fast monitor, so it’s 60 fps everywhere. It doesn’t even dip at the cooking event or the pre-DF primal invasions; it’s only Valdrakken that gives me a drop.

You literally have told someone before there no point for an ssd. I don’t think you giving computer help is needed.

It’s an MMORPG, where there are NPCs and Player characters it will take a heavy toll on the CPU.

This is a common problem with high refresh rate monitors, if you can’t power them you pay in latency. Especially when you enable g-sync, freesync or v-sync

MSI makes the worst Nvidia cards. Get an eVGA.

i know they had a 3080 that was too limited on the powerdraw (think it was the ventus 3x) but didnt think they are bad overall.

isnt evga escaping the gpu market? you wont be able to buy evga gpus for much longer
