Longneck back?

Just like in Shadowlands when they brought back longneck for 5m Gold. For those unaware, I’m talking about the AH mount Reins of the Mighty Caravan Brutosaur
Unfortunately it’s currently only obtainable at a Max gold price (9.999.999) via the black market on RARE occasions. If i remember correctly it was added in SL for a 2 week period. It would be nice to have a chance at this mount as that’s when I had started my wow journey.

I hope bfa timewalking gives us a new, smaller bruto mount, without the vendors. Call it the Littlefoot Brutosaur.

I think you’re misremembering. After bfa it’s only ever been back via the bmah.

The entire point of that mount was that it was going away, had to get it when it was current.

I certainly do wonder how many WoW tokens were sold when it was close to being removed.

Except it wasn’t. It was there as a permanently buyable mount.

Time pressure came a while after it was released with them saying they were afraid it would become as ubiquitous as the transmog mount and putting a time limit after the fact. Gotta drive those sales somehow

I have the mount, for over half the expansion it was not labeled as a limited time mount. They only made that decision in the last bit of the expac.

More people could of farmed gold throughout the expac if they had limited time from the start. But they didn’t.

I don’t really care if they bring it back, but overall im in favor of if they are bringing back limited time items / fomo things… it ALL needs to come back, not a select few items.

This is also because they unintentionally (and simultaneously completely unaware of the fact) they created a subtle monster. If everyone had AH mounts, there would be zero reason to go back to a major city, which is something they don’t want. That’s the other reason they suddenly pulled the plug on that one if I remember correctly.

They announced its time limit pretty early on from what i remember. We had like a year between then and 9.0.

While I agree that justification that they provided has it’s merits, they have since provided a huge motivation for people to go back to the main city outside of the auction be it portals to places you need to go (be it dungeons etc), an easy point to the rest of the expansion, crafting vendors, weekly quest providers. Were they to return the mount at the current cost of 9.999mil i’m doubtful it would be something ‘everyone’ would get.

Was it?

I honestly thought it was going away at the end of the expansion.

Blizzard themselves might not have said anything until later, but I thought there was no way it was gonna stay, with that price attached.

We’re well at the point where they started removing stuff once an expansion was over, like Mage Tower weapons before this.

There’s even that golden beetle mount right now, that’s going into BMAH once DF is over.

I own the ZG tiger, and the original Brewfest ram before that. They never said those were going away, even though they did disappear from the game.

Sometimes they just happen. Gotta earn stuff when it’s current.

It’s a rule that goes unspoken. You never know when something you want won’t be obtainable anymore.

Them announcing it is a kindness we didn’t have before, lol.

Elk’s right on that, yeah. It was put on the vendor as the next yak / mammoth. Then Blizzard realized midway through the expansion it was a bad idea and put a time sensitive warning on it.

By that, the better way to explain it is someone had datamined the feat of strength and put it on WoWhead and then someone came to the forums with the question. Blizzard was going to announce the time sensitive nature of it during an oncoming patch but was found out sooner thanks to that datamining and then was put under pressure with demands for an answer, so a blue post was made with the explanation.

Ah, so it was Blizzard’s blunder with the mobile AH on that thing, they just thought it was too much player power, maybe.

They should just bring it back in another color then, like a blue one, and have a banker/vendor and tranmogrifier on it instead.

Bring back the mount (or a version of it) but without the same mistake they made during the first iteration.

Also lol @ the white triceratops mounts on that same vendor, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a single player with those.

Same. I think blizzard made a ton off that mount . FOMO is made fun of by some but the reality is games doing for cash micro transactions and well the entire streaming profession that the internet and social media created is based a lot on FOMO bringing in dollars.

Lots of dollars.

I think the “longneck “ is ugly as sin. I’d not drop more than 50k on it myself and I have almost 5 million atm if you tally all the realms I play on.

I just took a bit to think about and did a key with my friends (failed a +21 DHT, my fault I was tired).

How much do I use the Auctioneer anyway, consumables, mats for crafting pots. They then stay in my inventory forever and backpacks are getting bigger and bigger.

There isn’t a need for me to have it. At best it provides a minor quality of life.

If I do really want it there is the option of camping BMAH on a character with capped gold. It’s just a matter of time before I eventually see it and win.

Thanks for this, sorry I’d forgotten the context of how it was discovered.

I didn’t play during BFA, i started in SL, it was 100% in a vendor in bastion for 5 million.
