Long time WoW player, but not very skilled

Loving frost mage. So much fun. Intuitive in a way that was unexpected. One slight problem is analysis paralysis; too many options.

Me problem or a class problem? Thoughts?

Think mage is new main regardless.

Definitely not just you. Classes have become increasingly bloated over the years, especially the original classes, and Mages more than most. Frost Mage in particular is one of the worst offenders when it comes to all the procs and visual cues that the player is constantly bombarded with.

Please don’t bring up the skill bloat argument…again. Sigh. Just practice. We don’t all want to play the same and diversity of skills creates different place styles. Get a gamer mouse with 10 buttons. Use hotkeys on your keyboard. If you are clicking important abilities…thats a skill issue. Once everything is binded…just go do quest and practice until its muscle memory. I promise the game will get more fun.l

Once you get into mage it’s super hard to get into another dps class. We have some of the best mobility (for ranged) and defensives (generally) in the game. All three specs have had a lot of abilities pruned/combined over the years, so there aren’t as many keybinds as some other classes and specs, but damage-wise all three have to react pretty quickly to procs and have a pretty high APM and a relatively high skill floor.

To Kerathras’ point, though, you basically need Weakauras to manage a bunch of the conditionals around what to press and when, and a lot of it can be counterintuitive. Still fun, but you have to really pay attention and basically need addons to function lol.

Im right there with ya. Ive played since release and I just cant nail down the rotations on 90% of classes these days. Back in my day I had to walk uphill in the snow with no shoes and could play every single class. Maybe I just got too old =/

We all ther with you. Did my first key as sunfury fire and just had to fight at 630 ilevel to stay in with other dps. Did 1.5mill burst.

Promise, I was not trying to provoke.

I do use key binds, but I have run out of comfortable binds even with a 15 button mouse …partly because I can only reliably and comfortably use the first 9. I cannot reliably or comfortably reach 10, 11, or 12, and the control versus shift would boggle my mind. Lastly, age is slowly taking my dexterity and my hands are thick from the gym and were never too nimble to start.

Still, I am practicing. Seem to be better with mage than warrior.

Frost mage is becoming new main, as is. Seeking no changes.

I agree. I played classic WoW a long time ago and the differences in button pushing and synergies is beyond ridiculous. It’s ludicrous if you ask me and I just do solo content. It’s like the developers are trying to make things complicated because they have nothing better to do then to see how many buttons and timers we have to stare at to maximize our characters. They need to simplify everything for all classes.

I really enjoy the new content, but absolutely despise this X + Y = G but only if G - Q > T but you get a 10% bonus if the target is under 20%. Come on, give me a break. It’s stupid and broken.
