Long queues and premades

no wonder fewer and fewer people are doing epic BGs. They’re no fun and a waste of time.

Right now is the worst time to queue epics.
You are either fighting a premade or starting a game with half a team because a premade dodged another premade.

(edit for clarity as people from the future look back on this post)
I mean “right now” as in the time of day this was posted (prime time) when multiple communities were actively queueing and you can see who’s dodging who provided you have the tools to do so.
Not “Right now” as in the year 2024. Epics are still very solo queue friendly if you’re fortunate enough to be able to play in the off hours.

Ya it really suck’s I used to love epics. They need to rework them and fix the queue exploiting.

I’m in a 6 min Q Alliance side on my DPS, Ronalvandy the Gnome Hunter!

Where are these ‘long’ q times coming from? It’s always 6 min, even 3am EST if I Q then for whatever reason. I think I saw a 7 min the other day. I see 3 min on the Horde often.

@ Hirav! Did I create this thread bro ?

Same. I used to love the chaos of it. Even when you have a premade on your team and fighting pugs its a boring stomp fest. I dont get the appeal of mindlessly stomping pugs

I just had a 3 min 2nd epic BG solo Q of the day.

So not certain where the ‘long’ times are coming from.

And while no one likes premades but premades, Blizz hasn’t done nothing about 'em.

Anyway, title says long Q’s and I never see that. But I do see premades. I don’t mind fighting 'em. I don’t like it when they on my side.

They are fun to fight when you catch one or two without their raid group because they get salty and send more than a few after you lol least that’s what I’ve found

Did I ever accuse you of creating it?

It’s just late season man, many people got their gears already and no longer need to grind epics. Premade or no premade, queues are gonna be long. I do hope cross-faction unrated BG queuing next week will help with the long queues.

No one wants to be powerfarmed, imagine that lol. Same thing is going on in the Solo brackets lol.

To be honest I don’t really consider EPICs true PvP, always thought they were used for honor farming, but yeah the fact that communities exist for this is funny to me.

In the past it was like hey that was fun for them, you do you lol. But in WW season 1, those red pvp honor gems are a GET RICH gold farm! So 40 players around the clock farming honor? Some serious gold…

Wait are you fr is it finally happening??

I am happy that you don’t need to wait long, but just as a proof, here is a screenshot of mine (19mins and still counting):
h ttps://ibb.co/WxtcYGF

This was taken at about 11pm NZT, and this is common, the longest we’ve got is 45mins. Anyway, this time I didn’t know when it would pop so we gave up and played Fortnite instead

At the start of TWW, the queue time was not too bad (maybe 6 mins?), but it had slowly degraded over time.

This suggests a significant % of Epic BG players are NOT interested in Epic BG’s experience but are just there to farm. The number of players who truely enjoys Epic BG is only a small % of the whole PvP population, and therefore the reason why Blizz is not giving it the attention we hope to have.

I think its awesome sitting in queue for 30 min, then queue resets half a dozen times, thennn finally get in and be power parmed by a premade lobby. fun fun

Hey Ariaenne,

Yah you mentioned that you were seeing long Q times. Is it because you are playing in New Zealand? Like the Aus servers or something? Are you grouped with others? I ask because you said ‘we’.

Well I hope it gets fixed for ya. The pvp community is fragmented atm, too much.

I’m PST (Pacific Standard Time) on Moon Guard and I never see a Q longer than 6 minutes, any time of the day. Usually a bit shorter, And even faster on the Horde side. I just solo Q, though. And that means sometimes fresh run and others back fill. It’s always quick though.

Perhaps they others are seeing what youa re seeing? idk.

Note: This is Ariaenne’s alt. Just testing to see if this would work :stuck_out_tongue:

I hope WoW isn’t played solely by people in America  Anyway, like I said, earlier in the expansion the queue time was around 6mins, I was implying there were a lot more people queued up then. Basically people had stopped playing Epic BG for various reasons (eg. no reason to, not fun, etc), and the population of dedicated epic bg lovers is small and thats why the queue time (outside popular hours in America) slowly got worse.

In comparison, Fortnite’s is played by a huge population provided very short queue time for matches that has more players involved - 99 players each game and queue time is usually shorter less than 30 secs, and sometime instantously. Note that all of this is consistent all hours of the day and through out the year, it does not need America players to hold it up.

Thank you

And yes I do frequently queue with friends but the queue time hasnt changed much even when solo queue. I did specifically tried when you suggested this idea in the other thread.

The main reason I raised my long queue time again is to highlight that Epic BG population is not huge and could’t afford to have more driven away. The foundamental problem is Epic BG’s dedicated player base is too small. It is max capped by WoW population - PvE, and opening WoW’s pvp portion to a lot more potential pvp players outside WoW is the key. I created a post in general forum suggesting separate WoW PvP to a new standalone game and people’s feedback is encouraging, and hope Blizz will consider as this could be an easier path for solving some problems, such as the fragmentation you mentioned.

Despite that, it is important for current pvp player base to be able to form consensous on matters of conflicting interests (eg premades) so to help guiding Blizz on design decisions.

Oceanic servers share the same battlegroup as American servers so its a mix of Oceanic & US players. Previous seasons were the same around mid way through you would get a sharp drop in active players and only one epic bg active around 11pm NZT. It will fluctuate a bit but middle of the week is the dip.

edit: If its down to one active BG and you’re not in it you are stuck waiting for the next one.

Yes. However it’s generally the same for me during the whole week with slight improvement in the weekend. As the expansion progresses this gets worse. Its simply because less people are playing Epic BG, and this trend is more obvious outside the popular American hours.

Seeing the participation would dip this much suggests a design (and therefore environmental) issue. Luring (new) player in to play Epic BG (with mogs, easy conquest pt, bloodstone, etc) is a good start but would be pointless if the game can’t retain them.

Epic BG need a lot more (new) players and don’t make it hard for people to stay.

Unfortunately, that’s not going to happen till blizzard fixes the queue sync exploiting and fixes the unbalanced epics.
