Long Map and Load Screens

I have been experiencing long loading screens, as well as my zone maps and world maps take longer to load, and often do not show world quests without opening and closing the map several times.

My PC Specs are:
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070
Intel Optane 1.8 TB SSD, 1.6 TB free space
Processor: Intel Core i7-7700 CPU @ 4.2 GHz
16 GB Ram
64 bit Windows 10

Just comapred to the recommended specs at https://us.battle.net/support/en/article/137431 and I'm definitely above those benchmarks. I've already updated my drivers, and I've tried replacing the Cache, Interface, and WTF files. I've also done a system cleanup.

Any other recommendations?
The game also freezes on me randomly. Sometimes it's in combat, sometimes it's just on a flightpath or walking around the zones. Icons for items in my bags also take a long time to load, as well as the Group Finder and Social menus. Basically, anything that opens in the screen takes a while to load properly.
Still encountering these problems. Anybody else having similar issues?
Howdy!

Slow load times are often a sign of a performance issue. Often times we find it with higher performance machines to be something throttling the system such as background software taking up available SSD bandwidth, power settings or overheating. I recommend to complete the following 3 steps before retesting the game the game:

Step 1) Place the system into Selective Startup. Make sure to restart the system to get into the mode. The goal is to shut down all background programs.

Step 2) Set your Operating System and Nvidia Power Settings to high performance!

- Press (Windows key - Q) The search menu will pop up, type in: Power Options
Hit Enter. Select: Show Additional Plans -> Select: High Performance. Exit the window.

- Right click on your Desktop -> NVIDIA Control Panel -> Manage 3D Settings -> Under the Global Settings tab -> Select: Power Management mode -> Prefer Maximum Performance. Apply -> Exit the window.

Step 3) Complete a full User Interface reset before retesting the game.

Report if the issue is better, the same or worse. Thank you!
Had the same problem, deleted the cache in WoW folder and loaded perfectly.
I did the steps and it seems to have resolved the long loading screens and map load times. However the game still freezes from time to time.
Deleting the cache folder fixed it for me.
Was having some weird DC issues tonight, and while I've also been having super long load times, I figured this wouldn't hurt to do. Not only was I able to log in again, but my load times are actually normal again. Thanks for the cache deletion suggestion!

Blizz, why don't you have the cache folder auto trimming?

I have done all of the above and this has not changed anything. Still having 10-20 FPS in Boralus and 25-30 in open world. Before Sunday night I was getting 60 FPS and above everywhere
So I have followed the steps suggested and it works for a while, but after a few days it is back to how it was before. Any other recommendations?

So I did that, and it also works for a time being. But it doesn’t stay that way. I’m still encountering long loading screens, and the map/guild screen/achievements/social tab/etc. all do not display correctly without waiting a few minutes for them to populate.

The game is also freezing a lot more, sometimes the freeze is over 15 seconds long which can definitely be problematic.

I’ve attempted all the steps above, as well as a factory reset on my desktop and repeating the process. Still minor improvements. Any other recommendations?
So, I found this thread https://us.battle.net/forums/en/wow/topic/20766306520?page=1

I followed those steps. It showed minor improvements, but I'm encountering a lot of freezes/stuttering while playing the game still. Any thoughts on a resolution?
Aydriann,

It sounds like something is continually corrupting your cache or something is blocking us from reading it quickly. When you zone, your cache stores a lot of info from the zone to more quickly load it. If it's getting less quick when cached, something is wrong. Couple questions.

2 and 3 are diagnostic. You'll basically want to play with no security/addons for a while. If it works, you can start reinstalling things one by one until it breaks again, then you'll have your culprit. Make sure when reinstalling addons and your antivirus you get the most up to date versions of all of them, and don't use old installation files/folders.
1. BitDefender
2. It does persist even if BitDefender is disabled.
3. Not running twitch. I'll go through my list of addons and try each one.

Thanks!
