Long loading screens?

Anyone else having this problem? Here lately I have been having really long loading screens. Yet a couple weeks ago I seemed to be find. What used to be like 2 seconds of waiting is now like 40 seconds of waiting… its really annoying

Legion Dalaran is by far the worst. I get long loading screens no matter where I go though :frowning:

The bulk of my loading screen time is actually caused by my army of addons.

O man. I solved this issue years ago for my wife. But I can’t find the link. It’s possible to find it somewhere on the net I’m sure.

Here’s the gist of it. In one of the files, or the file that runs WoW, you can set parameters for how the application will launch(I’m not sure how this works with the launcher now). The problem was that some computer would have really slow load times because the computer was told to load the surroundings completely before letting the player in. But you could change one of the settings to allow you in before it was completed, and it would continue to load as you moved around. So you’d see players outlines or shadows, but they’d still be loading. My wife’s dalaran load time which had all of a sudden gone to 5 minutes, went back to 10 seconds. I think on occasion when a patch gets applied, it accidentally messes with that setting for some ppl.

If I can find the specifics on how to do this, I’ll edit my post. GL.

PS: this is all assuming you’ve disabled your add-ons and made sure one of them not updating didn’t cause it.

There’s a workaround in here. But it’s just a workaround.

By chance are any of you using a solid state drive? Cuts down on loading by a lot.

If you get a long loading screen every single time, it may be a system performance issue that you can improve (often a SSD is the key factor.)

But there’s a new kind of delay I’m seeing in BfA, which is the occasional super long delay when switching zones. Usually its the same speed it always has been, but every once in a while it takes forever. I suspect this is a bug or side effect of some server-side change made in BfA.

Recently, I’ve had it where my loading screens are a bit longer, and for some reason, my start bar, and my mouse cursor blip. The start bar phases into the loading screen and the mouse cursor turns into the blue spinny wheel.

And then everything’s fine afterward. No problems in game, no nothing. It only happens when I’m loading through some places. Or if I go to change realms. I made a thread about it over in customer support, along with questions involving these mouse resetting to the middle of the screen bugs, but I never received help.

I’ve had exactly the same problem, and it started recently. As an altoholic I log into a different character 50 times a day, and I get this often.

It is very long when switching realms, or logging in the first time (when it ends with a character selection screen). Often the character selection screen comes up and I click on a character…and up pops a Windows warning “the app is not responding: do you want to close it or wait for it to respond”. I have to wait another 30 or 40 seconds, THEN click and things are fine.

Must be a different problem. This problem wasn’t happening a month ago. It started recently (the game’s behavior changed recently).

But addons (which he mentions later) are a possibility. Thanks for the suggestion – I’ll investigate my addons.

This sounds like the exact problem im having. Logging on, switching realms, and loading screens are all super long now.

I have ridiculously slow loading times also. Using the corgi goggles helps a little because it’s not trying to load all the armor on the people sitting around the point I zone into. I really shouldn’t need a solid state drive to play this game. I mean, my regular HD cranks out 100 megs per second and WoW usually only occupies a gig or two in memory.

One other thing. After an unusually long load time I get the message that the voice proxy bit lost connection and reconnected. Why do I even have something maintaining a connection for something I never use?

This^^^ Costs less than 50 bucks for a SSD that’ll fit your OS and WoW for super fast load times.

This issue started for many of us when Hallow’s End came around.

There is a big thread in the Technical Support Forums and a blue recently said that they “don’t think this is a bug as we can’t reproduce it on our local clients.”

I’ve recenly discovered that my family member who plays WoW who lives under the same roof and uses a laptop of a very similar setup, has pretty much the same addons, etc., does not have this issue.

Only difference we have is that I have multiple characters on several different realms which I swap between daily, as opposed to him having all of his characters on a single realm.

It all made sense after reading these posts from a couple of players - there must be a bug that’s causing looping issues when switching between realms.

A lot of posters does have SSD and even without addons (or having them disabled) and after UI reset / fresh client reinstall, the issue persists.

Really hoping that Blizz takes a good look on what’s causing this issue and fix it for us - and for those here having the same issue, please come over to Technical Support Forums and add your voice to our ongoing thread.

I’m in this boat as well, which I had made the post about over in the technical support threads. This is exactly my issue. The program no longer responding briefly and popping up the blue mouse wheel / my start bar blipping into my WoW briefly for no reason other than swapping realms.

We need someone to actually talk to us about it. This is beginning to get insane. If it’s not on our end, and it’s something on theirs, it’s fine. But at least communicate it to us.

I change characters a lot, and this is a big timewaster for me having the screen freeze every time I change characters or go through a loading screen.

It started happening the same time the profession window started freezing the screen.

Perhaps they view this as time played.

Possible workaround. Technically not solving the problem, but might help make the game not so infuriating.

Update - a CS blue has been actively posting in the thread on Technical Support Forums I have mentioned since last night, which at least is a good sign.
