Lol why so many puggers in guilds with no tank?

hmmm…wonder why that is?
Key finder group is reguarly full of these people. What gives?
(all 4 from same guild with zero tank)

not to be obvious, but have you tried just asking them?

there’s more…
was just curious what others had to say on the topic before I share…

Most likely just that the groups with a tank are already running. Also consider that in a raid setting the role you need the fewest players in is tank, maybe their tanks were already busy or logged off. Not everyone is willing to flex to a different role and will just put what they still need.

I’d say because there is no reason to have more than 2 tanks in a guild that do raids, but many DPS and Healers.
And unfortunately, in my experience, tanks tend to be the less implicated players in guild haha

Mostly this. Legitimate guild clique, raid tanks have a hand-picked 5 man group to run with every season because the core raid members do everything they can to out-gear the raids they’re doing.

some of those queing could be that guilds tank on an alt gearing their second toon, 90% of guild tanks will run the raids with their guild and then be forced to pug their alts

ive been a raid tank b4.
2 tanks per raid team
both will be the best geared tanks so in high demand.
each guild will have 20 - 30 + raiders (heroic and M). 8 M+ runs per week each player… is far too much for those two tanks. doing the math, and remove 2 nights a week for raid the other 5 nights puts each tank around 5 hours a night doing keys for the raid…
people just need to get out and get things done with out the raid tank… they cant help all of them.

also reasons above too…

tanking

+1 to this

It sounds like “puggers” are pugging without a tank because they don’t have a tank. The ones that do have a tank are probably running keys and not sitting in queue.

Difficult logic to follow here, I might need to use my lifeline to call a friend.

This happened to me a lot back when I raided in Legion/BFA. Two tanks, lots of other guildies bugging us to tank keys for them every night. Had trouble playing alts with guildies unless I was tanking.

Two tanks can’t tank ALL the keys for the guild like you said.

raids only need 2 tanks.

tanks are rare, there’s no incentive, a raid only needs 2, therefore there’s an argument that a guild only needs 2.

we have 2 tanks for our raid team, most of our guild is heals or dps after that. I imagine that’s the case with a lot of guilds. If the 2 tanks aren’t on, or the tank wants to run an alt, you could have 20 people on with no tank. So we pug, that is probly the most common reason you see this.
