While Cata raids in WoD dropped 160gold per boss. Doing Cata raids was content in WoD, as well as a relaxing casual way to play and make gold. What the heck happened and why is it only 25g to do much longer tougher legion raids in shadowlands?
Making gold doing old raids is fine. And there has been a ton of inflation since WoD so clearly nerfing gold drops didn’t do anything except make old content irrelevant. Go away troll.
Just last expac you could make tens of thousands of gold clearing WoD raids – that’s why you see inflation still.
Which is also why you will never see old raids dropping that much gold again. Raw gold income is going to be heavily controlled for the foreseeable future.
Like d3. I have made at least 80 milion this season so far.
Wallet says 2 million. where did the 78 million go?
I have made that vecin lady a very very very very very very rich lady. I need a socket on this lego for the ultimate combo of BIS dagger, BIS slot filler. I got it at the 2-3 million level of reroll cost per try. and was happy about that.
Now…I go for socket on the next BIS. I see my vecin gf. Alot…
Off to shen. lets make some good gems my former god friend. and he goes if you got that cash…aww hell yes.
Whilst gold inflation is a serious issue that requires constant vigilance, it should be noted that raw gold farms from e.g. old raids would have had a negligible impact. They last time a raw gold farm would have had a significant impact would probably have been in vanilla/TBC.
Since then, the vast majority of gold influx has been from bot mat hyperspawn farms and more recently Lego crafting. That being said, the biggest impact on gold inflation was the WoD garrison which was Blizzs own fault.
However now, the gold from carries dwarfs every other gold generation mechanism by a long way (hence why Blizz recently put the kybosh on in-game advertising).
It’s just another thing to do as a casual, which this game really needs imo. I’m already over 9.2 and will not renew my sub because my only shot at loot is a 1 world boss every week…everything else is pointless.
My wod raid farming in pre-squish days and some sl stuff…is going to make one carrier a richer person.
I will pay for carry for zovaal mount. Jsut being honest there. That carrier fits in 10 people like me at 500K in the week… 5 million gold in one week.
Now if the mount had vendor options for say 750K (make a different color so the raid people can still feel special) …I’d do that too. and 750K is flushed right out of the server.
If you’re talking about the AoTC mount, I would suggest waiting a while. If you’re paying anything more then 150k, you’re getting ripped off. Most AoTC mount carries last time went for about 50-100k.
Ion thought that too much gold dropped from raids, so when they did the squish, they squished all of the gold in the older raids. It’s a bummer because old raids were a nice way to farm gold.
All raids up to and including BfA raids use the same legacy loot system. Legacy loot system assumes there are 20 players/full raid group regardless of how many players are in the raid.
They actually don’t because of personal loot, and the fact blizzard usually cant make things work
Ever wonder why its odd how old raids drop mountains of vendor trash, yet the newer ones you may only get a small handful of things cuz no trash mobs drop anything?
What you’re refering to is their base loot table. Not their loot system. No instance prior to SL uses personal loot anymore. The loot systems are the same: Legacy loot.
Older raids dropped lots of vendor greys, greens and blues. Newer ones don’t. That’s not a loot system issue. That’s a loot table issue. Running Firelands, Dragon soul etc, now will still fill your bags with stuff. That stuff is now just worth a lot less to a vendor.
Why I do my lfr once or twice and say yeah…I am done. Not even wanting BIS gear given to me. My VE hunter is full pvp 242 with some 249 conquest. there is no BIS in lfr for me. I really just want trash to sell the vendor. New mogs welcome too, ofc.
Ulduar pays better off of vendor trash alone really. Not even taking the BOP’s sales and such.
Technically? The gold value of an item is determined by its item level, when the squish happened the item level of gear was lowered and thus its gold value was lowered.
However, video games aren’t restricted by the laws of thermodynamics or any other such unchangeable thing. They are malleable by the maintainers, devs, and so Blizz knowing that squishing gear reduces the ilvl which reduces the gold value of items and doing nothing about it makes it an intentional change.
As for WHY they did it? Since they are going to hide behind their shield of silence you are free to come up with whatever guess you want to come up with. I’m sure “to sell tokens” is quite popular.
