Lol how do people get common names so fast

I had two accounts open and both staring at the realm page

For only one account, the two realms lit up (Hardcore and PvE Normal), the other account they were still greyed out

Took over a minute just to get to the character creation screen, all common names gone by then

By common names im referring to two or three letter names, real life first names, names like Energy, Execute, Stab, etc.

Neither account was able to get to the Normal PvE realm until 2:03, all names already taken

swear people are using software/automation to abuse it or blizz simply lets certain people in earlier to reserve the names

not even mad just truly curious if there’s an advantage or how people do this. seems completely random if your account sees the realms available and not greyed out.

there are thousands of players on and ppl are hoarding names on purpose lol

They used bots you didn’t. That’s how you didn’t get your name.

Sad truth is, the name mafia is selling those names on Discod and co.

It´s like that in every MMO with unique name system, Devs are just not able to find a solution, which is obviously rocket science…

seems like WoW is way overdue for allowing the same name but having a guid that can only be seen in tooltips etc, that way everyone can have any display name they desire, but for friends list, inviting members, etc. you need to pass in the unique piece like Bob-#1435a, but all systems/nameplates/etc. only display ‘Bob’
