I bought the Logitech G300s mouse for the extra buttons to try out Clique for healing. Sadly, WOW Classic does not recognize the extra buttons when I try to bind them to spells. I installed the software for the mouse, selected the world of Warcraft profile, tried to bind the spells to the extra keys in game again, but WOW Classic still does not recognize the buttons. Is there something I can do to get Wow Classic to recognize the buttons on the mouse? I am usually pretty good about making sure something is plug and play before I decide to purchase, had I known this, I would not have purchased it. This is the first mouse I have ever had that requires software to work.
I found rebinding them to num pad buttons works.
Set the button to num pad then bind them in the game.
So In the software, I set the buttons to the number pad numbers. Then in the game I can bind them? OK, Let me try this. Thank you.
Mouses only have 5 buttons + scroll wheel/scroll wheel click, any more are remapped keyboard buttons. You remap the buttons in the software to a “keyboard button” then you assign that keyboard button in clique to what you want to cast.
I believe clique works on mouseovers. So you can technically bind 2 keys to one button. Say your remapped “8” key is a button on your mouse. You can map "8’ to say healing touch inside clique, but then assign some self cast ability you have so when you aren’t over the frames it casts your self-cast.
I do this with my priest. Prayer of healing is mapped to “2” on the keyboard when over the frames, but outside the frames it casts mindblast
Ok , Thank you!!!
I figured it out.
Awesome
So just in case others are wondering why such a cheapo mouse for this.
This is my first multi button mouse and so I wanted something I could use my regular two mouse fingers with. I have a slow mental processing speed and so muscle memory even slower than that. I needed something subtle/ not too drastically different than a normal 2 button mouse to get me moving in the right direction. If I am not able to memorize this mouse, then worse case scenario…goodwill pile and $20 loss. Not too bad. At least I tried.
I’m not sure if you an bind modifiers in clique, but you can get more spells for your buttons if you can…
You could have Max Rank Healing touch on right click, then shift right click could be a lower rank to save mana and minimize overhealing. Just 4 buttons on your mouse can give you 12 spells(no modifier, shift modifier, and ctrl modifier), more than enough for healing in wow classic.
Yeah, I knew it worked something like what you described, its just I am a plug and play type person so anything past the obvious, I just do not know. I am that guy. lol
Maybe once I learn to memorize these mouse buttons, I will get me one of them 12-20 button mice and move up to a gaming keypad with joystick for my other hand. This whole key bind/mouseover thing is still getting the better half of me when the chit hits the fan during raiding and out of frustration I turn off clique and reload the game. I think the extra buttons will help, because I have them set up one spell per button with the two main buttons left default. I have the extra buttons set up one spell each. I do not have to worry about holding down shift, control or alt to use another spell. Once I get the hang of this, maybe I will get more sophisticated with binding several spell to each button.
Whatever is comfortable for the user.
If you want to dip your toes into the extra bindings I suggest doing it on older content. If your guild is still clearing MC and has no issues with it, that would be a good time to practice. Lots of decursing and raid wide damage, and if you have been clearing it for months now, you missing a decurse or 10 probably wont cause a wipe and can practice the down ranking on raid healing during trash. The biggest hurdle isn’t actually the keybindings, its getting used to the button placement on the mouse imo. When I went from a 4 button mouse to an eight button mouse my biggest hurdle was just hitting the right button on the mouse since its positioning was slightly different than the old one.
I don’t know why anyone pays hundreds of dollars for a mouse. I use the G600 and it’s every bit at functional as the two hundred dollar versions.
I bound the buttons on my g600 to ctl-1, ctl-2, etc and the others to shift-1, shift-2, etc
Update:
I used it for a few days, about 8 hours of game play time. So the mouse did not work out. I am back to my two button mouse with a scroll wheel. I like the idea of using clique to heal with, but I found it just totally annoying. I found myself constantly having to open my macros to see what spell was bound to which button. Just way way too much going on while trying to keep the raid alive.
just use your most common 2-3 spells as mouseover macros. you can still add a shift modifier for a different ranked spell.
Using a G600 series I’ve used key bindings on punctuation keys ,.-+(){}:;’
Num Pad requires Num Lock key to be on otherwise pressing End/Page down etc unless someone knows a better way?
I have my g600 set to the higher F numbers since I don’t use those anyway. F12, F11, F10 etc. I don’t use any F keys normally beyond F3, so that leaves me 9 mouse keys to play with.
start by reinstalling windows
I bought one of those usb numerical keypads and it seems to be easier for me. I used it in our raid tonight. Much much easier. Spells are set up 1-9 and that s how I have my action bar set up so it works pretty good for me. Hopefully with time, I will be able to graduate up to an orbweaver or nostromos keypad.
That’s a whole new type of level of relearning out of my comfort zone with those
