As described, Classic fails to login to server. Client sits at 'Logging into game server" for ~2 minutes, then DC’s (WOW51900319).
edit: the entire client locks up as soon as you select any server, trying to click on cancel to select another server immediately crashes the launcher. Repairing game via bNet app effects no change.
Was logged into Classic until ~2 minutes before server shut down for maintenance.
Tried recommended TS steps, no change.
Support options for live chat and call-back are not available, submit button on web ticket is also grayed out.
Retail works fine

on a whim, put the game on my older ASUS ROG (Win7 | GTX670m)
Still had a lengthy delay getting past the server selection, and the app did lock up while processing, but finally made it to the Character Screen and was able to log in.
So in addition to the app issues, also seems to be a factor from the OS
