Today I am getting just a black screen when attempting to log into Cata Classic and Dragon Flight. I was expecting a queue to show on launch day, but the game wont load at all. It worked fine for the last week (and before). I will not uninstall/reinstall. That is an absurd request from any software company. Any other ideas? Already rebooted PC and router.
I’ve done everything possible and this has been happening to me since 5/16/24 in the afternoon. Could play without ANY trouble before they launched Remix: Mists of Pandaria. Opened several tickets, no resolution as yet.
Since Monday, May 20, I’ve been unable to get the game to launch. I use Classic & Retail and they both worked on May 19, but now I click the “Play” button, nothing happens and my mouse pointer disappears. If I click the screen, I get the “Program not responding” message. I have submitted a ticket and followed all the instructions and it makes no difference.
Heard back from an actual human and not an automated response; HOWever, they still didn’t have any solution for this problem, only further suggestions on how to try different things on my end. I’m like, dude, I’ve done all these things 4-times over, nothing is working because it’s Blizzard’s prob and not mine… I worded it much more nicely though. LOL I also told them that there were zero posts on the forums last Friday, but now there are dozens, so perhaps they need to look over some code or something… We shall see.
OK. THIS WORKED FOR ME!!! I can now get into the character screen and play (Retail).
Search for Blizzard article ID 23848, Closing Background Applications. Went to Startup Apps, and what I had to close was: SecurityHealthSystray.exe, Amazon Music Helper.exe, msedge.exe, Dropbox.exe. They suggest closing all Startup apps, restart machine, and re-enable each to see which one it is. I HOPE THIS HELPS YOU GUYS!!!
