Logic behind delayed evokers?

So I am sure there are a ton of posts on this. Yet this delay to Nov 15th is silly …

From now until then, i get to play (or take a break from) a class that I will not play until Evokers come out …

Why not give us 30ish days to work on our new main before the xpac. Get some gear, learn the play style…etc.

Instead, it’s basically, take a break until the 15th…

I really do not understand the logic here. You have everything to gain by releasing them on the 25th, and more to lose by delaying them until the 15th… (ie upset fan base, view of the game, getting into another mmo … etc)

Just playing devil’s advocate here, but maybe to trickle in new content rather than puke it all up at once? The first patch will be the new UI and talents, which are pretty overwhelming features themselves. Throwing in a new class might be too much for newer players.

What’s amazing to me is we’ve reached a point where we now complain that we can’t play a new class that is part of a new expansion long enough before that expansion even comes out.

It’s wild.

Probably not finished. Just like some class trees.

Not much we can do sadly. I am there with you. I was excited to finally be able to hang up this Mage and get started on my new main; gathering cosmetics I might want before Dragonflight came out and I was busy with other things. I was also hoping it would come out before Pandaria Timewalking so that I could get the dragon soulshape, but eh.

I will just play Mage for a few more weeks. :frowning:

Evoker is basically mage sans portal.

Evoker certainly is as squishy as a Mage. To me, it’s like playing Mage with less CC or Balance with less utility.

Aye… I am really gonna miss those portals. :frowning:

It’s less about the class and more about the race though. I usually play draconic or reptilian races in games if given the choice. I have known for months that I was gonna switch when these guys came out. I don’t really play alts, so playing another character while I wait feels bleh. It feels pointless because it’s progression that is essentially wasted.

Thought it lets me play with my friends, so there’s that at least.

Healing is awesome with them though.

They feel like they have about as much utility. Raid buff, Bloodlust-like spell…

Really they just need to be able to fart out food and it’ll be like playing mage 2.0.

They don’t do nearly the same amount of damage though.

That’s just numbers tweaking. It’ll change a million times between now and launch.

This is true… gonna miss Ice Block, Polymorph, and Invisibility too.

Plus side… get to play a dragon person. A dragon person who can’t FLY, but still a dragon person.

Hope so!

Now we need to get to a point where when someone begins one of these ridiculous threads, everyone just ignores it and moves on to something relevant, rather than engaging.

They’ll say to pace the pre patch stuff… I’ll say it’s probably to work on them some more as they aren’t that great on beta [that’s where I played them].

Not that interesting also but that is subjective.

I respect devils advocate, and I can understand this point. I just see the next 30 days as a great chance to build up and learn a new toon, to be ready for when the xpac comes out. for those who cannot take a few weeks off work.

I guess more for getting ready to raid more then the content

I also just don’t understand the point of the delay

It’s really important to have people playing and testing their main classes on live before releasing a brand new class to the whole world. If evoker hits on prepatch a ton of people will be playing that in lieu of the other ones. It will be far easier for weird bugs/interactions to get through un noticed this way.

2 weeks of testing existing classes and new systems, then dropping a brand new class seems pretty smart.

What? You know logic has no place on the forums! Heretic!

This is a better answer, honestly. Plenty of people haven’t played the beta; they just want the new thing to be the best thing. Throwing in an entirely new class would take attention away from other, equally important changes.
