Logging Into Wrong Account

Almost put this in the bug forum, but it doesn’t seem like a bug so much, and maybe someone else here is experiencing the same thing.

Since yesterday (and only since the Bnet update I did yesterday) whenever I log in, the launcher takes me to an inactive account.

I have 5 total, but only one I play. Since it auto logs me in, It’s taking me to a secondary account so I have to logout of that one back to the login screen, select the correct account, and log back in manually.

Odd thing is the main account is the first one in the list, so if it was defaulting to one it seems like it would pick that one anyway.

Anybody else?

Me too. I think they do it on purpose to remind you to re-sub on those accounts. At least they made the background color on the launcher different between active and inactive accounts.

Mine too. I’m not even sure where that account came from. There are no characters on it. Can you delete accounts off of your bnet?

I think you may be able to, but it may be one of those tedious “send us your photo ID” things. I had to do that one time to restore a stolen account for my wife.

Well, at least it’s not just me. Not a huge deal just relogging each time. For now.

If it’s a starter account that’s never had game time on it, then you can remove it using a self-service option here:
https://us.battle.net/support/en/help/product/wow/181/878/solution

If it’s an account that has had game time on it, then you can put in a ticket to have it moved to a different battle.net account (which you’d need to setup first if you don’t have a second one) and they can move it for you.

Having said all that, I think the update today just happened to reset/switch the last used login to something more random. It shouldn’t stay like that once you correct it. It will hopefully stay with the last used account like normal

It started happening to me last week with the starter account which I hadn’t logged into until that day. And kept switching over to it for several days.

Thanks Perl. I think I will try this

Did the same thing for me today

Must be something they have done in an update this week

Same here.

I’m actually from EU, which is my main account.
But now when I log in it sets this US starter account as the default.

Not a big deal but a bit annoying and never used to do this.

Yeah, it randomly sends me to another account lol. It’s most likely a bug that will be fixed soon.

I have 2 active accounts I play daily. Nothing has changed for mine.

Yep, I’ve been having this bug too. Super annoying.

This is happening to me too. I have to switch the account that’s selected or I log into: “this account is inactive” the first time I tripped out for a moment then I realised that it decided an inactive account was default now.

This is happening to me too, defaults to the trial account I use to reserve names. Was kind of paranoid at first and thought someone else had logged into my account and changed my default somehow at first.

This has been happening to me for almost 2 weeks I think.
When I open my launcher it goes to my wow2 account and I have to switch back to the wow1. It’s not a major problem, but it’s certainly annoying.

I appreciate the help i was having a similar issue, for some reason, the battle.net launcher kept logging into a starter account I haven’t used for years
