Lockpicking

How does lockpicking work in shadowlands? I rad it scaled with your level and you don’t have to level it up anymore. I’ve certainly seen locked loot that taunted me whenever I get them lol

Lockpicking is scaled to level 60 rogue. I have one horde and one alliance sitting in Org and SW that is their job and running auctions.

it’s based on your level. the lockbox corelates to an expansion which corelates to your level. 50 for bfa, 60 for SL, etc…

It gets weirder with the non-rogue methods. IIRC, inscriptionists can make (and use) a scroll that will unlock lvl 60 boxes, and blacksmiths can make and use keys. They can do this before lvl 60. BUT, unless they’re actually lvl 60 themselves, they can’t frelling OPEN those boxes and remove the contents. That has to be done by a lvl 60 toon.
The keys you can sometimes fish up as fishing junk are identical to BS keys, and subject to the same restrictions.

Who needs a silly rogues’ lockpicking skill when all mechagnomes can just open locks with their fingers?

Does that have a cool down?

No. No cooldown.

That is so awesome. I think I’m finally going to go after their heritage armor, and if I fall in love with them, maybe switch my main. Thanks!

Scribe. That isn’t even a word.

Yes, it really is. Especially in a WoW context.
Now, run along, little pedant, and take your ill-formed sense of misplaced superiority with you. Shoo.

Locked chests and doors in old dungeons sometimes cannot be opened even with a rogue of the appropriate level.

A scribe was a professional writer prior to the invention of typewriters. He would write letters and important documents with exquisite penmanship for busy people who wanted to make the best impression.

Necrolords also get a max lockpick with the Marileth soulbind - it’s on a 12H CD but can be reduced by channeling fleshcraft (3 hours per channel).
