Locking your information from third party sites

How many of you block your information from third party sites?

What I mean by block is that there is a switch that you can turn off from your blizzard account in the social settings and there is a setting under game data and profile privacy that will prevent third party sites from obtaining your data. And it will take a month to see the effects.

If you didn’t know about this well now you know. Just saying blocking your information is crucial for your privacy and security. But hey if you want to be tracked or be stalked it will be on you.

Blizzard does not share my private account information. And why should I care if somebody wants to see whether I did dungeons? (Hint: I didn’t.)

I have never been stocked on a shelf by people seeing my logs.

I did get invited to mythic raid with people as well as to run keys with a few groups so I guess I only managed to benefit from not hiding logs/keys.

“Stalked” not stock.

I would think someone who’s so paranoid worried about their privacy and security wouldn’t play a video game on the Internet to begin with.

I guess I need to worry about Wowhead and Raider.io having my Blizzard account data, but then again I don’t own the account anyway so it doesn’t really matter much.

Ah. Yeah, was spelled stocked when I was writing my post, had to make the pun.

it becomes a problem when u get people on the forums linking check pvp showing all your alts

Just fyi by disabling game data sharing it will do all of that for you just by hitting one button and it will block all of them but it will take one month for it to feel the effects of it.

How is that a problem? Also you can find someone’s alts super easy if you block it or not. See pets, achievements and mounts have unique ID’s and are also account wide. It takes longer to sift threw but it’s not hard to find.

Achievements can be hid from public eyes within ingame settings.

Spoilers.

Mounts and pets can’t be hid but I doubt anyone will tell the difference from those who have the same amount or the same stuff as you or I.

Pets and mounts cannot. You can easily tell the difference between them as each pet amd mount has a unique ID seperate to someone else with the same pet/mount. This is leftover from dupping days but still exists.

Even can’t I doubt others can even tell the difference because some people will have the same stuff as you do. Or even better yet the same exact things.

I think I have… I forgot if I have or haven’t.

Actually, after yesterday with what one person has done, someone who has commented in this very thread, I hope that my account information is blocked from third party sites.

Again you are aware each pet and mount has a unique id right? Different to everybody else with the same pet/mount. Item ID is from the dupping amd account theft days and still carries over now.

you do know that by disabling game data sharing it blocks all of those sites from ever knowing those information. And by doing that no third party sites can access your specific information nor identifications.

It’s really not.

Your characters are not personal or private information. They are fictional characters owned by blizzard, not you.

One of the only reasons people use places like check pvp is to see if someone is sockpuppeting and it’s usually only when they are acting aggressive or trolling a topic.

Most people who are upset about this either don’t understand what private information is or they’re trying to hide their trolling on the forums.

Again, your character is NOT private information. No one can learn anything about you by knowing what alts you have.

They won’t find your real name, your address, your credit card number or anything else. It is NOT private information, it is PUBLIC and it is NOT owned by you, it is owned by BLIZZARD.

Honestly, I really hope blizzard follows the other forums and adds battletags just to see how many people runaway because they can’t troll, spread misinformation or sockpuppet anymore.

Not every site. Some sites are able to have ways of bypassing that, such as sites that would have an armory for classic characters for example.
