Locking an Entire Hunter Pet Family Behind a current raid? Really?

EDIT: Cleaned up OP, due to recent hotfixes.

For anyone who hasn’t been following along over the past day, the Blood Soaked Tome of Dark Whispers, which lets hunters tame Crawgs/Blood Ticks has been revealed to drop from Zul in Normal/Heroic difficulty only.

Why on Earth did you think it was a good idea to lock an ENTIRE FAMILY behind a current raid? Not everyone mains their hunters. Yes, EVENTUALLY the raid will be old content that you can rush through, but people shouldn’t have to wait 2 years to get access to an entire pet family. An exclusive skin like the Challenge Tames of the past, sure. But not an entire family.

ESPECIALLY when the family has an unique family skill, in the form of a ranged snare, which has been talked up by Blizzard as being good for PvP. Most PvPers do not do Normal+ raiding.

Please re-consider this Blizzard. Either allow the drop in LFR as well, or open up the drop through other avenues as well.

And for the record, I have the tome. I can still believe this is an unacceptable avenue on how it’s obtained though.

Its possible theres an easier way to get it but people are blowing this out of the water to ***** and cry over it to sound important, i have been testing and figuring this pet family the legitimate way so far and there has to be a trigger for it somewhere the natural way because if it was a normal drop? why wasn’t it at launch of the Raid itself makes no sense there.

So far that exploit i would not touch cause exploits can lead to bans, on a side note anyone tested it on Normal or LFR yet and not just Heroic?.

People tried the exploit in LFR and Normal and nothing. So logic dictates it’s a Heroic-only drop.

Least that ticks one thing, now onto the matter of whats the other ticks? im pondering if blood related trash items might be used in this as people overlook stuff like that easily, like Wirts Leg back in D2 before they discovered that Cow Level.

Its just a matter of finding it all because as i said theres no sense in locking a pet family into a heroic raid not on launch (specially for a % drop rate which isn’t even confirmed yet).

This isn’t a mmo anymore.

Everyone must do everything the same way at the same time locked behind the same gate.

What a shill.

I’m gonna blame this one on the players and not the devs. This is a clear case of people overreacting to a process they don’t understand fully. It’s like complaining that the only way to get rain is by doing a magic dance because every time someone did the magic dance it rained.

That Blizzard dude said was a bug they are looking into.

Just buy a pet carry for gold.

Problem fixed. I’m sure they are out there by now.

Next.

No, the exploit is a bug. It coming from Heroic Zul is not a bug.

Yes, that is what I meant (the having to hearth is a bug.)

Why shouldn’t the good hunters get an advantage? If you want to consider pets part of your gear, it makes sense. Imagine, getting better rewards from higher difficulties =O

If you dont main your hunter, why would you feel like you’re missing something important?

The pet family isn’t remotely useful for PVE.

It’s no different than getting the wolf pet in Legion by having to solo a current Mythic dungeon, something that was still pretty difficult even later in the expansion.

People are blowing this WAY out of proportion. There is absolutely no reason to lose your mind about this. If you want it, go get it. If you want it later, I’m sure it’ll still be there to pick up. Stop throwing the biggest fit for a cosmetic thing.

No. I have 4 hunters and I don’t have a problem with someone doing heroic getting these now and having to get it next expansion. Hunters can function just fine without having these pets - they have after all done so up to now.

I hope they add it to LFR and normal not everyone does raids and still plays hunters as mains and stuff…you shouldnt have to be a raider to get a hunter pet…why i had to go back to legion and solo it to get that 1 pet

Yeah, I guess it’s too bad that you couldn’t just hop out of Halls of Valor and tame one of the hundreds of wolf NPCs running around in Stormheim if you wanted a pet with similar aesthetics/abilities.

Oh.

Wait.

My hunter’s collecting dust but I’d like to chime in.
Blood tome behind heroic raid boss Zul might make sense.

But feels very unnecessary. I feel like they could of done another ‘‘secret’’ type thing that people can discover in Nazmir amongst the Blood Trolls and make people engaged in the content. At least I feel that would be more engaging and feel appropriate for a hunter-type blood taming tome.

Yea that’s lame. I just stick with my spirit bear to show off because everyone knows that’s the biggest pain to get now with crz

Coming at it from that perspective, blood beast hunter pets become a vanity pet and therefore" ok" to gate behind non-casual content, much like mage tower appearance (before it was easy to outgear) or the hidden appearances from the Balance of Power questline.

I’m not saying that’s what actually happening here, only wondering if the devs are thinking like this.

They are potentially useful in pvp thou, so why lock them behind a heroic raid boss?

Aside from that, the majority of hunters I’ve met that care about collecting rare/unique pets, regardless of usefulness, are casual players. This is another rather tone-deaf move by blizzard.
