So I joined an SR OS run but the list didn’t fill before they decided to kill the first drake, and I didn’t want to get locked to this run so I left as they were killing the first drake. I never tagged the drake, and I left the raid before the drake died. I just tried to zone into OS on my character and it says i am locked. Is that working as intended? I don’t recall you ever getting locked to a raid if you aren’t in the instance when the first boss dies. Anyone had this happen to them? Kind of annoying that I don’t get an OS lockout on my main this week because of this.
If you’re in the zone when the boss is engaged, and said boss is killed, then yes you are 100% saved. This is nothing new. Otherwise people would tag a boss, get it to like 5%, leave and reset.
Would they? I don’t see how this would be useful to do. It seems like only something that creates problems like in the scenario that I had rather than being something people could abuse in someway. If you were the only person to leave the raid while the first boss is 5%, and the boss is killed the instance can no longer be reset, and if you didn’t get saved to the ID through this you would be able to zone in and accept the now locked ID with the 1 boss killed if you would like to. There isn’t anyway you could kill the boss without getting locked to be able to kill it multiple times to get extra loot or anything.
You send 10 people into 10 man sarthe. You leave 5 in there to kill him at 5%. Now that other 5 can go in a different raid and do the same.
Or better yet, you sell people gear. The core of the selling group leaves just before the boss dies. Then you can do it on repeat.
There’s plenty of reasons why you should be locked to a boss that is killed once you engage it.
They could just lock you to the ID because sarth died and a drake died during a 3D encounter to avoid that scenario. Similarly they could have things like the door in Anub’s room that shuts when the boss is pulled to avoid a situation like that from existing. There are ways to prevent players from abusing this while also removing the negative impact of getting locked because you were in the raid when a mini-boss was pulled and then killed after you zoned out. Just seems like a design flaw.
It’s really not a ‘design flaw’. It’s intended. You lost a raid instance for the week. Get over it.
Just because something is intended doesn’t mean it can’t be better designed lol.
