Just curious what is expected with locked chests in dungeons. Before anyone says anything I’ve generally just told people to roll then unlock it, but I’m curious what most people do.
That generally seems to be what rogues have done in my groups as well. Though personally, I would have no issues with a rogue taking the locked chest for themselves, if they were the only one who could open it anyway.
FWIW, I have never specifically sought out a rogue as a party member for an instance because I wanted to open locked chests, as I may seek out a lock for summoning, a mage for polymorph (or AoE dmg/slows, etc.).
This subject has been discussed at length in huge threads.
Lockpicking is a profession, whether people want to acknowledge it or not. It is entirely up to the rogue how he wants to handle the fruits of said profession. Just like herbalists, skinners or miners.
Can confirm Brokenwind speaks the truth. The rogue decides, not their party. If they want it all? Neat, they earned it. If they want to share it? Neat, I’ll not turn down an opportunity at loot!
The etiquette is to pretend you don’t have the lock picking skill needed, then you go back and get it at the end of the run after people leave.
Im always party leader. If rogue doesn’t wanna share, then neither do we. We kick him out and replace with a new dps. There is no shortage of instant replacements. All I have to do is step outside and summon.
#roguetax!
sigh
Do you also boot herbalists and miners who tap their nodes in instances?
You reek of entitlement to the benefits of another’s professions they rightfully skilled up.
You are the exact type of player people complain about.
Do herbalists and miners possibly have a world drop rare or epic from picking a flower or rock?
I guess you should have thought about that when you rolled warlock. Next time, play a rogue, and all the chests are yours.
So your entitlement only applies to the fruits of professions of others where it would benefit you to a windfall degree. Got it. Want control of a professions rewards: play that class and skill up that profession.
Or, I can just play with non-scummy rogues and they share with the team. Which is what I do.
I let other people have it, because I’m a conflict avoider, lol
What do rogues owe you? Nothing. They’re the only ones who can access the LOCKED chests, it’s theirs. Open is free game. What are you giving to the rogue in exchange? Nothing.
Whew. Saves me the worry of thinking I might accidentally group with you one day.
For the record, I don’t play a rogue. I’m a prot warrior with a holy priest wife. A walking “just need 3 people” dungeon group at any time. If someone in my group got uppity about the rogue in our group taking locked chests, the person mad at the rogue would get booted. I ain’t got the patience to deal with that level of narcissism.
A spot in the group. They can share with the group, or they can go back to waiting 30 minutes to an hour to find another one.
Guess what cupcake, as a tank and group lead, you causing drama over a rogue’s profession would cause your little gnome butt to be kicked from the group. You too are infinitely replaceable.
Might want to slow down, your narcissism is showing. “A spot in the group” as if they can’t find another group, and yours is the best one.
Yikes. Good luck in classic. Glad I’m not playing on Grobbulus.
Meh. Everyone has good points in this argument.
