As a rogue, do I not have need ability on a lockbox that is LOCKED? It improves my ability to open them by leveling up my lockpicking ability. But does that mean i also am the receiver of the loot? (imo yes because no one else can open them)…thoughts?
ps. if someone in the group needs an item that drops from the opening i always give unless i myself need it first…
soo…is this fair?

Yes that’s totally fair but little Timmy thinks he deserves a roll for the time he didn’t spend leveling up lockpicking. Only people who should roll on Locked Chests are Rouges, and Blacksmiths with Keys.

Rolling on chests is considered polite and you as a rogue bring utility to the party by opening it. Further, you wouldn’t be able to even see the chest if it wasn’t for the party that got you there.

I’ll let you have the lockboxes when you pay me 5g per pull as a Tank. You can’t run a dungeon without my tanking services so you need to pay me for it because if I wasn’t in the group, you wouldn’t even be able to pull the mobs to drop those lockboxes in the first place.

Nope. You can get the skill in the “Will not be traded” box of the trade window. Boxes are rolled on like all other loot.

As a paladin engineer I always have a stack of large seaforium charges. Need on that lockbox and I will to. Say you don’t have lockpicking skill high enough to open that chest in the dungeon? Fine I’ll open it and while I’m at it I’ll replace you with one of the other 176 players that wanted to join the group as dps.

This.
These Rogues acting like they aren’t the most played DPS class in the game and easily replaceable.
I think hes talking about the green lil boxes you get as loot and not the chests during the run.
i believe little timmy helped kill the mob yea? other rogues will open the boxes for free without the associated entitlement…
I don’t know if it’s just a bunch of babies who are butthurt they got ganked by a Rogue, or communism becoming a popular idea again or what, but people are loving the idea of denying Rogues locked things lately (on the forums at least).
Just let the Rogue have his locked up stale bread and move on with your life.
Putting this much energy into denying somebody else something is so pathetic.

You wouldn’t have gotten the chest either if it weren’t for the group.
Classes bring their abilities to dungeons for GROUP content.
Mages make water/food and portals. We decurse.
Warlocks summon.
Rogues (Not rouges) lockpick.
Druids battle res.
Warriors have higher repair cost.
Healers heal life tapping Warlocks.

agreed! and im neither rogue or blacksmith with the ability to open them
That’s a bonus. Share the chest with the group, it will help you in the long run.
Also, Sharing get’s you future invites which will get you more and better loot then the chest/lockbox would have.
You gonna charge to open doors now too?
Rob your class of the utility you bring to the party, and you’ll quickly find yourself replaced by Warriors.
Bank it.

This entire concept of rogues automatically getting things that are locked is strange to me. I never saw it in vanilla and honestly haven’t seen it in game in classic either, just seems like forum trolls trying to rule people up.

I’m a warrior with blacksmith keys. Any rogue tries to pull this shît in my group he gets the boot and I’ll open the chest for everyone to roll on. Said booted rogue will be replaced in approximately 18.6 seconds.
