Lockdown mode as a security feature

I really wished the forums had a lockdown mode feature to prevent any and all people from abusing the resources here that are given to you. What I mean by “lockdown” is locking down your digital footprint and to prevent any bully or harasser from accessing your profile or armory information.

(If there is any blizzard employees reading this please consider it. Thank you for your time)

it’s not YOUR information.

it’s blizzards.

i don’t know exactly what you think can happen by character profiles being on display, or how anyone is able to abuse the information.

…block them?

What more do you want. Your character info is public information. Post on some low level alt if you’re paranoid about other people seeing it.

Do you mean from other users, from Blizzard or from hackers or what not?

You can make your profile private and hide your post history and activity, but people are still going to use addons to get information about you (I think). As far as hackers gathering your information with a breach at Blizzard, good luck. This sort of thing is very rare, but it happens.

If you use similar character names as you do on social media platforms, people will be able to put the two together, but I don’t know how realistic that is to be fair.

I guess I don’t know what you were exactly worried about.

It’s too late. The NSA already have your armory and forum info.

We wouldn’t need to check peoples’ armories if people would stop lying all the time.

this has got to be a case of chronic trolling… doesn’t it?

surely anyone who was THIS concerned about having an online presence, simply… wouldn’t?

i mean… the internet is entirely optional.
so are phones.
i’m a whole lot more concerned about the amount of information which is out in the universe because of using a phone.
i even make people promise to not put my phone number in their contact list.
it’s standard for all apps to want access to a users contact list, and i don’t know what apps they’re using, or who my info is being sold to.

the only reason i deal with my own phone having every movement tracked by cell towers, is because it may exonerate me in a crime one day :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

Chases, are you really this mad over the fact that we always find out it’s you no matter how many throwaway alts you make? If you don’t want us to dunk on you, then maybe post less cringe and drop the fanboyism.

Just stop. This is starting to get weird.

Most people don’t want to actually fix a supposed issue, they want to complain.

All I can do is picture OP peeking through his blinds. lol

It’s Chases. If you don’t remember who that is, it’s just a forum troll that got meme’d and ignored until they switched forum alts so they could start getting attention again.

That would be embarrassing. No wonder they want a “lockdown” mode. lol

i had a couple of names in mind of who it could be.

at the end of the day, it doesn’t really matter.

this place is flooded with “concern trolls”, regular trolls, doombringers, and attention seekers.

hopefully most of them run away when a little accountability gets added to forum posting.

I’m thinking something more like this.
