Unless new lore has come out i donā€™t know, blizzard has little info on them.

It is headcanon.

To me, since some males donā€™t have them, i donā€™t think they are mobile appendages. Just decorative pieces. Are they more sensitive? Probably not if they serve no greater purpose. If they can sense mana or whatever, it would mean not having them would put a male at a significant disadvantage. Granted, poor mutations can occur, i just think they are flesh with no true purpose than just being flesh. If they can move, it would most likely be akin to you or I being able to move our ears.

Considering the male Draenei flirt that says ā€œMy nondescript facial appendages quiver with anticipation every time I see youā€, i could theorise that tendrils could have some nerves. About this flirt I remember a rol player (who use to made an abusive use of erotic rolplay) saying that this flirt indicated that tendrils were a eregone zone, but i wouldnā€™t go so far.
I will say that are sensitive, and that could show us some emotional state, like when someone likes you as the flirt show us. Also when the tendril quiver could be sign of happynes for meet the person you like or any other reason that could make you feel good. Something like when dogs shake their tale, they shake it when itā€™s lunch time, when go to play outside, or when they meet his master after a while. Anyway, those are just my supotitions. Good luck!

Honestly, I assume theyā€™re somewhat prehensile? But maybe not a great deal. Iā€™m not sure, but Blizzard likes to do weird things with anatomy and sometimes it has no rhyme or reason, and itā€™s always subject to changeā€¦ like how NElves used to have purple blood, and now itā€™s been changed to red, except in some art.

I imagine that you can feel with them, I donā€™t think they serve a social role, and Iā€™m pretty sure walking up and grabbing almost anyone by the facebits is a pretty big no-no socially, regardless of your race.

In my opinion, itā€™s probably the equivalent of asking how any other race roleplays their earlobes. Theyā€™re just a fleshy growth on your head, nothing more. Some people put jewelry on them, some donā€™t.

I have no idea but Iā€™m throwing in a thought that they might function like whiskers for a cat. Have you ever stuck something in front of a catā€™s face and see their whiskers extend out? Thatā€™s one means for them to check things out.

Could be the same where a dreaneiā€™s tendrils can involuntarily (or maybe voluntarily) move to feel for things.

Thatā€™s gonna lead to some interesting ERP!

I too am curious about the lore behind the tendrils. Them being like Cat whiskers does seem like a good idea.

That thread title came straight from Goldshire, didnā€™t it?

Given what has been stated of Draenei being naturally inclined to magics, two other native species to Argus in the Marsul and Panthara also having fleshy growths and some innate magical abilities, Iā€™m inclined to suggest that Draenic Tendrils are a form of Mana Sensory organ.

To go even further it may be a vestigial organ at this point as their minds as a species has developed enough that they can comprehend the higher mechanics of Magic and no longer need a direct sense to detect it instead of having the mental processing power to instead ā€œcalculateā€ it.

As was mentioned above that a Male Draenic flirt refers to the organ quivering, this doesnā€™t directly mean the tendrils purpose is in species propagation in some manner. Much like how human ears and cheeks grow red when they are in an elevated state, draenic tendrils may ā€˜quiverā€™ as increased heartrate and bloodpressure cause movement.

I view them like eyebrows and tails, which is to say, another way to express emotions o:
