(2) Set Bonus: Vile Taint cooldown reduced by 5 seconds and Phantom Singularity cooldown reduced by 12 seconds. Vile Taint and Phantom Singularity damage increased by 60%.
(4) Set Bonus: Enemies damaged by Phantom Singularity gain Infirmity for its duration and enemies damaged by Vile Taint gain Infirmity for 10 seconds, increasing damage taken by 10%.
Developers’ note: The (4) Set Bonus technically applies Infirmity for 2 seconds every time an enemy is damaged by Phantom Singularity. Phantom Singularity deals damage every 2 seconds, so this has the effect of keeping Infirmity on targets for its duration.
Demonology
(2) Set Bonus: Demonbolt damage increased 15%. Consuming a Demonic Core reduces the cooldown of Grimoire: Felguard by 1 second.
(4) Set Bonus: Grimoire: Felguard deals 40% additional damage and empowers your active demons, increasing their damage done by 20% while active.
Destruction
(2) Set Bonus: Channel Demonfire bolts, Immolate, and Incinerate have a 20% chance to fire an additional Channel Demonfire bolt.
(4) Set Bonus: After casting 15 Demonfire bolts, your next Demonfire bolt deals (103% of Spell Power) Shadowflame damage to the target and (35% of Spell Power) Shadowflame damage to enemies within 8 yards.
Are they SERIOUSLY tying the tier set bonus to Channel Demonfire? Forcing us to take a talent we don’t use just to make it viable? And tying Demo to a talent too?! At least the Affliction one they tied to talents people consistently use in raid and keys … too bad Affliction is hot garbage to play.
Gods. My opinion of the devs just gets lower and lower at this point …
The desc tier bonus is a joke. Those effects basically locked our talent tree choice. Now you also have to waste 2 talent points on ROF and pyrogenic to get the cataclysm to work with channel demonfire.
Demo tier looks great. Grimoire felguard is taken easily in every build and the 4 piece syncs with how tyrant ramps work. The only issue is that we aren’t casting enough demonbolts to get the cooldown of Grimoire down to 1.5 minutes where it would sync with Tyrant. The cooldown reduction would ideally be increased to 1.4-1.5 seconds, or it will force the player to hold tyrant for 8-10 seconds.

I’ve not played without Grimoire: Felguard at all this tier in any content. I think it was a good choice to build the tier set around that ability as it lacks flavor in it’s base form.
This tier set for Grimoire: Felguard turns it into a powerhouse 1.5 minute cooldown. It’s going to be great to play with imo if they fix the cdr on the 2 piece.
Honestly they all look pretty fine to me. Destro being tied for CDF is cool, but in reality they could also just add soulfire to the choice as well. Personally for destro if they make this I would love to see them add that CDF and Soul Fire should be castable on the move. It would solve a couple problems with destro at the same time. Having a set bonus that buffs a cast time or channeled ability just feels terrible if you have to interupt it for some reason. So it would be nice to see them make them castable while moving as well.
it does appear that the GfG does buff demons, so it would stand to reason that it would work with Tyrant buff as well. What would be interesting, however unlikely, if they both buff portal demons as well. Seeing as portal demons don’t interact with Tyrant i doubt it would be the case.
I don’t think we have confirmation but that is definitely the assumption. Should build a giga tyrant window, especially with the 50% gain to Reign of Tyranny already coming in 10.0.7
See this is my concern, that this type of set bonus might try to pigeonhole people back into Nether Portal when 10.0.7 will finally give us another option.
That will depend on tuning. I assume Immutable Hatred will also get the increase from the GFG aura, which means it gains value every 1.5 minutes rather than NP gaining value every 3 minutes.
Edit: Also, keep in mind that Immutable Hatred will get nearly 30 seconds of GFG aura with Felguard at full strength, whereas there is a lot of ramp in Nether Portal, reducing the impact of GFG aura on it.
Hmm I guess tier sets are just shiny class affixes now. Not sure how I feel about this as it basically forces you to take certain talents, negating the entire philosophy behind having a choice behind your talent selections.
If anything, these tier bonuses highlight how minimally successful the talent overhaul was. A lot of spells that are talents should have just been baseline.
Also, i am really really going to miss the empowered hand of guldan bonus. I hope it returns in some shape or form, hopefully as a permanent addition.

I don’t feel this in anything but the destro set. The forced talents are talents you already take in Aff and Demo anyway. Either way, it all comes down to tuning.

I think it was a success with a lot of room to improve still yet. I absolutely love the talent overhaul in nearly every character I play. A huge improvement over the prior system.

I completely agree. Instant, empowered Hand of Gul’dans are really cool and I hope they get baked into a node elsewhere that needs some help, glances at pact of the imp mother
It’s really not ideal from a sustainability/long term standpoint though. Demo and afflic got lucky. It is bad design to force people into a certain build depending on how it is approached. This turns into even more of an issue if one build favors one Pillar of content over the other. Nothing too crazy or new when analyzing WoW’s history, but these bonuses are pretty severe in terms of forcing builds.
I think of the tier sets moving forward as more of an experimental period for new talents, and i think that is an ok design process. If a tier power is well received, it gets added to the spec tree in the future.
There are a lot of passive damage nodes that still exist in all the trees that could be replaced with more interesting interactions. The 4 set from vault for demo should definitely be added in my opinion and at first glance, the tier set for 10.1 should be baked into the ability or available as an empowering node, but we will see how it plays.
