Locating Rares in The Forbidden Reach

You see a rare spawn on your map, a shiny silver portrait, enticing you and tempting you with vault keys, upgrades for your alts, perhaps mounts and even toys, and excitedly you dash off on your wonderful dragon.

Arriving at the marker, you find it to be above your position, and so using your last remaining vigor, you surge upwards. But wait - it’s below you again. It seems to be inside the wall of the mountain! Your vigor is low, and so you activate your ground mount, barely navigating the terrain as you hunt for this shiny new creature. Perhaps in this cave? Nope. What about this nook? Bone piles.

You open your map to reorient yourself, but to your shock, horror and dismay, the rare creature has been defeated, and has all but vanished from your map. This was an issue in Zereth Mortis and has been ramped up pretty strongly in The Forbidden Reach, too.

Happened to me a bunch, yeah. I’m learning the spots as I go and I know most of them now. It’s not that bad.

  1. Download the handynotes addon.
  2. Hover your mouse over the rare skull icon.
  3. Note the blue shaded spot that appears on the map. This is the cave entrance to access the rare in question.
  4. ???
  5. Profit!

You didn’t get to the rare in time, because people were already working on it.

It happens. It will continue to happen. It’s not that big of a deal.

Give it a few weeks :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

On some of the servers I’m on, I had to wait for people to help me lol

Oh yeah, I am sure it will mellow out, it’s week one now and everyone is there. Well, depending on who you ask or the time of the day.

My alliance toons are on a low pop server, but in the evening it doesn’t seem to be an issue. Besides the rares there, and the vault, doesn’t seem like there’s much else to do, so I agree that in a few weeks or so there will be a dip in activity.

Yeah it will die down month at the most

The only real difficult one to reach is Warden Entrix because of how deep inside and behind mobs that one is.

I guess it begs the question is there going to be more areas for the “real” content patch? If not then yeah they should have done more…

The new zone, Zaralek Cavern, is apparently underground (dragon riding is enabled there)

Which makes all the cave complaints super funny to me.

I stopped paying attention to wow news. So at ten point one there’s gonna be a new zone on top of this?

Yeah people should not complain

Blizzard has announced that Dragonflight Patch 10.1: Embers of Neltharion will continue our journey taking us deep beneath the Dragon Isles in pursuit of the Primal Incarnate Fyrakk! Patch 10.1 is the first major content patch for Dragonflight and contains a significant amount of content including:

  • New Zone, Zaralek Cavern, as well as additional quests and story content.

  • New Raid - Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible and Season 2 Tier Sets

  • New Mythic+ Dungeon Rotation including the remaining 4 Dragonflight dungeons.

  • New Outdoor Content including a new Renown Faction, Dragonriding updates, and Fyrakk Assaults.

  • Systems Updates including Class changes, Cross-Faction Guilds, UI Improvements, and so much more…

I mean. They’re gonna complain about stuff anyway. People out here really expecting ALL the rare mobs to be out in the open and have the same healthpool as a non-elite mob. :dracthyr_shrug:

Well it means people’s criticisms about it not being a true content patch is sort of right.

It seems like its catch up filler.

They could spend a lot of time fixing this or they could make the next one better. And if they don’t then let the complaints commence.

I personally didn’t see it as anything else. A catch up patch for alts. This week the weekly is for Mythic dungeons, but after this it’s 6 weeks straight of Timewalking… I’m going to lose my alt-loving mind.

Even if everything was great and it was a 10/10 patch people would find something to complain about. Can’t please everybody.
