We have a system now…
Rich player: Buy game time / cash shop items with excess gold (through tokens).
Poor player: Purchase and sell token with IRL money
Poor player: Buy game time with gold when they get enough to “pay back” the loan
If poor player defaults on the “loan” they have to spend more IRL money on game time / more tokens.
The rich player makes money by not having to pay for game time / getting new and shiny things. They can venture into multiboxing as well with the saved IRL money to generate even more gold.
First, I’ve heard of interest charging loans in wow between players and deals involving loans in exchange for a future percentage of sold-for-gold raid and mythic+ carries.
It’s also my understanding that there is an “old boys network” where players report other players for welching and getting blackballed was effective enough to kill some guilds.
It’s odd. The OP walks like a space goat, but sounds very much like a goblin.
I would assume players can do whatever loans they want, but it probably won’t be supported by Blizz so… Kind of something to be cautious about which means players won’t go for it.
Never lend gold (or money) that you can’t stand to lose. I think that is good life advice.

A corpse… should be left well alone.

So this is a plan to get your mounts from defaulters rather than having to farm them.
With loans would come non-payment, and the inevitable harassment that came with it. Scams would be rife, and it would just add acrimony to a community that doesn’t need any more.

Send me all your gold.
Charge me whatever interest rate you want… I’m not paying it back and you can’t make me.

What would the penalty for never paying the loan back? Account suspensions to bans?
EDIT: Hot damn, it’s a resurrected thread.
I would like to borrow one million gold on a throw away account.
/delete account. Lulz
I think the topic is as hilariously off-key now as it was originally.
Anyone who would lend gold to someone who is incapable of earning it on their own should do so with the expectation that they will never be repaid.

World first guilds took out loans to try to get world first.
I mean when the game is your life I guess I get that
But world firsters aren’t the poster child for Moderation
LMAO imagine playing the game and realizing you’re a million gold in debt and now you have players jumping off the rooftops in stormwind cus they cant pay
