pc is under 5 years old, drivers are up to date and internet is solid. All login/ loading screens take at least a minute. ive uninstalled the game fully and redownloaded it and still is an issue. any ideas what the issue could be ?

Sounds like it’s on an HDD, not an SSD.

honestly not 100 percent sure, when i uninstalled it said it was on my os as well as on my other one that i have so when i redownloaded it i made sure it was off the os cause i couldnt update windows it was so storage heavy on there. the issue was there before that and still after.
I don’t have load times longer than 10 seconds and mine is on an HDD.
But thanks for reminding me that I need to migrate it over to my SSD lol.

2x 8gb sticks or 1 16gb stick?
It could also be your graphics card? If your graphical settings are too high, they could cause long load times too.
2x8 and i dont frequently mess with graphics settings. i use the optimization option on the nvidia app whenever i update drivers
M.2 NVMe SSD then also change settings to load non-critical to zero. You’ll get in faster, but not everything in the game will load in right away.
The largest factor is switching to an SSD. Next largest is addons.

Should be enough ram. You could look into upgrading your sticks to 16gb.
Again, I would take a look at your graphics card.
Make sure your game is installed on an SSD.
Speed test your internet and make sure your strength is good.
Double check your task manager and make sure nothing is hogging resources.

That’s probably your issue (I know it is for me), especially if you have anything running in the background.

I have 128gb ddr5 a bit overkill, try 32gb ram, I use about 25gb running wow.
Run my OS on one SSD & my games on another SSD.
you’ll just need to pay…oh 300$+ peasant consumers dont get ram no more.

I run on 16gb of ram with barely noticeable load screens. They last maybe a few seconds. What kind of ping do you have in-game?
I suspect you’re hitting swap with only 16 GB RAM. If you’re on Windows 10 you eat up a minimum of 4 GB just from the OS, more with Windows 11. Despite being a “21 year old game”, the engine isn’t 21 years old and takes a lot more RAM than it used to. Minimum recommended to be in the comfort zone for WoW is 24 GB RAM, preferrably 32 GB as you really won’t want to run >2 sticks in any system and there are no 12 GB sticks.
Despite almost certainly being DDR4, that isn’t likely in the cards with RAM prices having shot up anywhere from 200% to 1800% (depending on type and speed, with DDR5 being hit the worst).
If that’s with four sticks, I hate to tell you this, but you’re losing a good chunk of speed by not running just two sticks. Running four sticks will force you to either JEDEC standard or just above that. Even CU-DIMMs cap at 7000 MT/s using four sticks. If you are in fact running 4x32 GB you’ll actually get better performance running 2x32 and leaving two slots empty, especially if you’re on an AMD CPU as the IMC (integrated memory controller) is AMD’s Achilles’ Heel currently and the (probably only) spot where Intel has the upper hand in the current CPU generation.
You can get by with 16 GB, but only with both a low VRAM GPU and lower graphics settings. Ironically the more VRAM you have, the more system RAM you need as well. Otherwise you’re going to potentially hit swap pretty hard depending on the zone and graphics settings and how aggressively WoW’s client swaps textures. Some zones are more favorable than others, though zones like Ardenweald that use a lot of volumetric and/or compute heavy resources will tax a 16 GB system pretty easily.

It’s pretty crazy how DDR5 works this way. It’s the first time in my decades of building PCs where filling those extra slots results in a performance decrease.
