Load issues (after the loading screen)

Hi everyone! i’m having a hard time to load things in game! it takes forever to load textures, map and UI even after the loading screen!
here are the things i already tried:

  • deleted the Cache, WTF, interface folders
  • Ran scan & repair the game

Nothing seens to work! I’ve searched all forum to solve this problem but the only thing i found was “buy a SSD…” btw here is my spec:

  • windows 10 64b
  • Intel i5-9400F @2.9GHz
  • 16384MB RAM
  • DirectX 12
  • Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060
  • HD (CT480BX500SSD1)

Hey, Arianno! Hard drives are expected to have longer loading times than SSDs. It’s also common for them to start wearing over time which can cause the in-game features to load much slower.

It may help to run through a Scandisk and Defrag, which I recommend to do over night since it can take quite a bit of time to complete. This should reorganize the sectors so the game may load a bit quicker since the hard drive won’t have to work as hard.

This is an ssd.

ty for the response! but… well i’m already using a SSD

I must’ve misread something on my search! Sorry about that, it generally should be loading fairly smoothly. When you tried resetting the interface files, was the initial launch a bit smoother in terms of after the loading screen?

How long have you been having the loading screen issues? Would you be able to try an alternative connection just to make sure it isn’t something connection related with loading the assets?

i’m having this problem for a few months now. No, i didn’t try another connection however i’m pretty sure its not connection related. i think i could make a short video showing what is going on (if it helps) the thing is as soon as the loading bar finishes my char still stuck and even that i can cast (for exemple: mount) i can’t move, after like 30-50 seconds i get teleported to where i was moving to, the map shows missing components also. this is becoming a real problem when joining arena! sometimes the arena game starts before i can move my toon :frowning:

How old is the SSD?

While it is an SSD, its one of the lowest end ones. There is no DRAM cache on board, which will require your system to do a bunch of the heavy lifting, and it forces a bunch of small writes that reduce the life of the drive. The read side of loading textures should still be good, just the writing performance is hindered.

Been having the issue for so many months. I was told on another toon that it was my graphics card, it was indeed bad at the time for other reasons. I got a brand new computer and it still sometimes happens. Definitely not like it was but it does ocassionally. I can sometimes watch the world “build”. like the main boat it boralus will load grey then change to color then objects on it will load. really slowly. and i cannot move once mounted until its fully loaded.

exactly what it happens with me! but it is not just when loading boralus… every first time when i get to somewhere this loading happens, including arena maps. I’ve already lost matchs that i couldn’t even see what was going on because things was loading while my toon was stuck… it is rly frustrating. I have a decent machine and i still can’t get a real answer.

I’m also having this problem. Today it was so bad I couldn’t play. Just gave up and quit.

I have an iBuyPower Intel Core i7-9700F CPU @ 3.00 GHz
16.0 GB Ram
64 bit
Windows 10 Home
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Super
DirectX 12
SSD

Computer is new as of last Feburary.

It’s been doing this for a while, but only around Boralus. And I haven’t noticed it in low level areas such as Stormwind, Ironforge, etc.

Today though it’s all over. Took over 5 minutes to load into Boralus, then I still was standing in the middle of nowhere for another 3 or 4 minutes, finally it loaded mostly… Click on the mission table and only part came up, it didn’t complete loading. That took another couple of minutes. Finished that, opened up the menu to see what WQ’s were up and that took about 3 minutes to load. Tried to mount up, no mount I went invisible. Waited another 3 minutes…

Rode to the flight path area but zip there, took about 2 minutes to load. Grabbed a flight, arrived to a blank screen that took about 2-3 minutes to load. Was able to mount up went to kill the boss… I just stood there, my (Hunter) arrows hit the mark but no graphics for me. Downed it and then finally heard and saw the effects for my battle… Um, a bit slow there… lol

Flew to Amber Waves and again the waiting for the area to load. About 2 minutes.

Did 1 WQ there, tried to do another but it just was too much, so slow I couldn’t do anything. Went back to Bortlus to nothing again at the flight location.

Logged off. Went onto an alt in the Wetlands, same thing. 3 minutes to load in, zone blank, 4 minutes for the zone to load. I quit game.

It’s getting worse. Shadowsong/Borean Tundra servers.

I would love to see a blue reply to this, or if there’s another thread that has more comments about it. This started happening to me as well after the patch tuesday last week.

i have a new computer with a ssd, 16gig ram and still getting the layered load in, and sometimes longer load screens.

For me on Shadowsong it’s a little bit better today. Loading times are shorter but still have to wait for 30 seconds to a minute for zone’s/NPC’s to load, not to mention my pet if I’m on my Hunters. And it took 4 minutes for the game to originally load to the character selection screen, then 2 - 1/2 minutes to load into Boralus.

Hey all,

Longer load times like this can be a few different things. Go through these if you haven’t already:

  1. Reset the UI. Load times can be caused by addons malfunctioning or caching issues, which resetting the UI will clear out both of those.
  2. Reinstall WoW. If the game’s data files are too fragmented it may take longer to load the model/texture data when loading in for the first time. Reinstalling the game will reorganize the files and remove the fragmentation. Scan and repair does not accomplish the same thing.
  3. Check your SSD/HDD performance and compare it to benchmarks. Userbenchmark.com is a great website for checking your overall system performance and does have a section for SSD/HDD performance.

I did the userbenchmark I’m outstanding on everything excep the ssd which is average. So not bad, though obviously could be better.

I don’t use addons at this time, though I’ll reset it anyway and I’ll try another resinstall.

Probably won’t have time today, so will try for that tomorrow.

Found this cute: Apparently the overall Userbenchmark for my computer is a “nuclear submarine.” lol

Edited to add, thank you Jambrix.

Just FYI, resetting the UI definitely did not work.

Got even slower, 5 minutes to get into Boralus. After 10 minutes I finally got to Hangmans point, tried for a WQ, after 6 minutes zone still had not completely loaded (no NPC’s no detail) yet I was nearly killed by an NPC I could not see or tag. (Not in Warmode.)

Tried to log out, WoW froze, became unresponsivle and locked up my computer completely. Had to turn off the computer and reboot.

Miree,

There’s definitely something odd going on with either your system or connection and I think we may be able to pinpoint the problem if you were to contact us via the ticket system. That way we can get your DXDIAG and MSINFO files and take a closer look to narrow down what is causing the slow loading.

If you want to submit a ticket we can work with you one-on-one to get this figured out and the game running properly again. I’d just recommend linking this thread in the ticket description after detailing the issue, so the person answering it knows what has been done already.

Thank you Jambrix I will do that tomorrow. I’m out of time for games today unfortunately.

Thank you for your help.
